Why join us?
  • Play a pivotal role in delivering strategic, high-impact projects that shape the future of Hume Bank.
  • Collaborate with a passionate and forward-thinking team across a growing Product & Innovation function.
  • Enjoy a flexible and supportive work environment in Albury or Melbourne.
  • Mentor and develop the next generation of Business Analysts in a values-led organisation.
About the role
As the Senior Business Analyst at Hume Bank, you'll be at the heart of our transformation agenda — leading the investigation, design, and delivery of strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives that make a real difference to our customers and our people.
Reporting to the Head of Transformation, you'll take responsibility for gathering and translating complex business requirements into clear, actionable technical and functional specifications, working with project teams and stakeholders from initiation all the way through to go-live and hypercare. You'll also provide indirect leadership to two Business Analysts, mentoring and uplifting capability across the function.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy and delivery. You'll influence senior decision-making, facilitate workshops with executive stakeholders, and act as a trusted advisor on solution options, feasibility, and business impact while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and to a high standard.
Based in Albury or Melbourne, this is a genuine opportunity to contribute to meaningful change at a bank that puts its customers and community first.

What you can expect
  • Gather, validate, and document business requirements, concept papers, and design specifications for strategic projects, translating complex technical information into clear, accessible language for all stakeholders.
  • Lead project delivery from initiation through to implementation and BAU handover, managing risks, schedules and stakeholder expectations throughout.
  • Model business processes and identify opportunities for improvement, documenting current and future states and outlining the benefits and impacts of proposed solutions.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leaders, facilitating workshops to align on strategic priorities and solution design.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to executive sponsors and senior stakeholders on solution options, feasibility, and business impacts.
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation, applying Human Centred Design principles and supporting a fail-fast, proof-of-concept approach where appropriate.
  • Own and continuously update the Business Analyst Playbook, establishing and enforcing quality standards for requirements documentation and analysis deliverables.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Business Analysts, supporting capability uplift, career development, and the consistent application of best practice across the Bank.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will:
  • Bring demonstrated experience in a senior Business Analyst, Solution Analyst, or similar capacity, with a strong track record of delivering complex projects end-to-end.
  • Possess excellent business analysis and solutions design skills, with the ability to work effectively in both waterfall and agile project environments.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to influence organisational strategy through business analysis insights, and to build trusted relationships with senior and executive stakeholders.
  • Have experience coaching and mentoring analysts or project teams, with a genuine passion for developing capability in others.
  • Show outstanding communication and presentation skills — written and verbal — with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines across multiple workstreams.
  • Hold experience in Financial Services (desirable) and previous exposure to Payments, Origination, or significant IT system transformations (desirable).
  • Hold a Diploma or Degree in a related field (desirable). PMBOK, Prince2, or Agile qualifications are also desirable.
  • Hold a current driver's licence and be willing to travel from time to time.
