As part of our Transactions & Payments team, you’ll work on systems that process and reconcile high-volume, multi-system financial transactions across state and partner platforms.
In addition to gathering requirements, you’ll help ensure that every dollar is accurately processed, accounted for, and reported.
About the Role
We’re hiring a Senior Business Analyst to drive clarity and execution across complex financial and transactional systems.
This is a fully remote role, working with distributed teams across Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations.
This role sits at the center of how payments are processed, reconciled, and reported—directly impacting financial accuracy, compliance, and customer trust.
Your primary focus will be:
- Leading discovery and defining requirements
- Aligning business, product, and financial workflows
- Ensuring transaction and reporting accuracy across systems
Secondarily, you’ll support production triage and operational workflows (as needed, ~10–20%).
You’ll move between discovery, delivery, and production support owning problems end-to-end and ensuring solutions are right the first time.
What You’ll Do
Lead Discovery & Define Requirements
- Drive discovery for initiatives across payments, transaction lifecycles, ledger entries, and financial reporting
- Translate business needs into clear, testable requirements, user stories, and process/data flows
- Ensure requirements are complete and aligned before development begins—minimizing rework
- Document workflows and data mappings across transaction and financial systems
- Own requirements quality and completeness from discovery through delivery
Align Teams & Drive Delivery
- Partner with Product Owner, Engineering Tech Lead, Finance, and Operations to align on scope, priorities, and outcomes
- Drive backlog refinement and prioritization using business value, financial impact, and risk
- Identify dependencies and risks early, especially those affecting reconciliation, reporting, or ledger accuracy
- Actively participate in testing and validation to ensure implementation meet business requirements and financial expectations
- Operate expertly in an agile scrum environment.
Improve Transaction & Financial Outcomes
- Analyze and resolve issues in payment processing, transaction flows, and reporting pipelines through root cause analysis
- Partner with Finance and Stakeholders to validate ledger behavior, reconciliation processes, and reporting outputs
- Identify and drive improvements in accuracy, traceability, and efficiency across financial workflows
Support Production & Operational Workflows (as needed, ~10–20%)
- Triage issues impacting transactions, payments, or reporting accuracy
- Identify recurring defects and systemic gaps
- Escalate high-impact issues affecting customers or financial data
What You Bring
- 4–8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in a technology-driven environment
- Hands-on experience with transactional systems (e.g., authorization, settlement, reconciliation, gateways, or ledger platforms)
- Strong understanding of transaction lifecycles, including authorization, settlement, reconciliation, and ledger posting
- Experience working with financial reporting, auditability, and data integrity requirements
- Proven ability to lead discovery and drive alignment across cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical skills, including root cause analysis and production issue investigation
- Experience translating complex workflows into clear requirements and data/process models
- Experience working in agile environments and with agile tooling ( Scrum, Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Confluence, process modeling tools)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence in a remote, distributed team
- Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and own outcomes end-to-end
- Experience with government systems, regulated environments, or high-audit financial systems is a plus

- Base salary range: $90,000 - $110,000 (depending on experience)
