CMiT is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support an Agile software development team delivering secure, mission-focused solutions for federal clients. The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with business stakeholders, Product Owners, developers, testers, and project leadership to translate complex business needs into clear requirements, actionable user stories, and successful software outcomes.
This role is ideal for an experienced analyst who thrives in a collaborative delivery environment, communicates effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, and brings a strong understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle. What You’ll Do
Business Analysis and Requirements
- Lead elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation, and management of business and technical requirements.
- Partner with stakeholders and delivery teams to translate business objectives into user stories, functional and non-functional requirements, acceptance criteria, process flows, use cases, and technical specifications.
- Facilitate stakeholder interviews, requirements workshops, working sessions, and backlog refinement activities.
- Analyze complex business problems and recommend practical, technology-enabled solutions.
- Ensure requirements are clear, testable, traceable, and aligned to business objectives and delivered functionality.
- Support prioritization of requirements based on business value, operational needs, technical considerations, and project constraints.
Business Process Analysis
- Analyze and document current-state and future-state business processes and workflows.
- Create process models, workflow diagrams, decision trees, and other visual representations to support solution design.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the user experience.
- Evaluate the impact of proposed system changes on business processes, applications, users, and organizational workflows.
- Validate process documentation with stakeholders and identify dependencies or cross-functional impacts.
Agile Delivery Support
- Work closely with Agile development teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Translate approved requirements into clear Jira user stories and development-ready work items.
- Participate in Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and related Agile ceremonies.
- Clarify requirements and acceptance criteria for developers and testers during implementation.
- Support release planning by identifying requirements, dependencies, risks, and implementation considerations.
- Communicate requirement-related risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions to stakeholders and project leadership.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of requirements management and Agile delivery processes.
Documentation, Testing, and Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and maintain business, functional, technical, process, and user documentation using Confluence.
- Create requirements documentation, functional specifications, process documentation, and system workflows.
- Develop acceptance criteria and support creation of test scenarios and test cases.
- Collaborate with QA teams to support functional testing, regression testing, and User Acceptance Testing.
- Validate delivered functionality against documented requirements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to government stakeholders and business users.
- Facilitate discussions between technical and non-technical stakeholders to build shared understanding and resolve conflicting requirements.
- Present proposed solutions, recommendations, risks, assumptions, and dependencies to stakeholders and project leadership.
Continuous Improvement and Mentorship
- Identify opportunities to improve business analysis practices, documentation standards, requirements quality, and delivery processes.
- Share knowledge and best practices across project teams.
- Contribute to organizational standards, templates, and processes for business analysis and Agile software delivery.
- Support overall project success by contributing expertise wherever needed.
