What we are looking for:

We're looking for a Business Analyst who turns undocumented legacy behavior into clear, testable requirements the squad can build against right away. You'll sit between the client's subject matter experts and our developers, working closely with the Product Owner. The AI agents can extract business rules from the code, but they can't tell you why a rule exists or whether it's still needed. You'll get those answers from the people who know the system, and you'll write them down.

Key Responsibilities:

• Groom and refine backlog items so they're ready to build: clear scope, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and dependencies.
• Run focused working sessions with client SMEs to capture business rules and the reasoning behind them.
• Review business rules extracted by AI from legacy code and validate them with SMEs: what's right, what's wrong, what's obsolete.
• Convert user manuals, existing documentation, and work items into structured specs that drive development and stay in sync with the code.
• Keep the backlog healthy in Azure DevOps, using the client's existing hierarchy instead of building a parallel structure.
• Partner with the Product Owner on prioritization and sequencing, and flag when the pipeline of ready items runs low.
• Write and review acceptance criteria with the QA team so tests trace back to the requirements.
• Respect SME time: batch questions, prepare before every session, and keep a shared record of decisions.
• Communicate directly with client stakeholders, in English, on requirements questions and open decisions.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years as a business analyst or requirements analyst on enterprise systems, ideally in ERP, supply chain, or another transaction-heavy domain.
• Proven experience eliciting requirements from legacy applications with thin or no documentation.
• Strong skills writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications that developers can estimate and build from.
• Hands-on experience managing a backlog in Azure DevOps or a similar tool.
• Comfort reading technical material (data models, stored procedures, screen flows) well enough to ask the right questions, even if you don't write the code.
• Advanced English, spoken and written, for direct client-facing sessions.

Nice to have:

• Background in a developer, QA, or technical analyst role before moving into business analysis (open to a developer who has done a lot of elaboration work).
• Familiarity with PowerBuilder, Oracle, or other legacy platforms.
• Experience with spec-driven development or working alongside AI coding agents.
• Domain exposure to agribusiness, commodities, or contract and trading systems.
• Consulting or client-facing delivery experience.

What Success looks like in the first 45 days:

• Reviews the client's prioritized backlog and gives an honest read on its readiness.
• Agrees with the Product Owner and the client on a definition of "ready" for work items.
• Completes the first set of fully groomed items with SME-validated business rules and acceptance criteria.
• Sets up a repeatable cadence with the SMEs that respects their limited time.
• Keeps at least two sprints of ready work ahead of the squad.

Where you will be based:

Remote (Brazil or LATAM), supporting a North American client engagement. Working hours must overlap with US Central time.
