Senior Business Analyst -Fixed Term to June 2027

Salary: Up to $146K + Super

Primary purpose of the role
The Senior Business Analyst role translates business needs into effective technical solutions that align with organisational goals and objectives.
Key accountabilities

• Plan and lead the scoping, elicitation, analysis and documentation of business requirements using a range of engagement techniques.
• Identify, analyse, and document business processes, functional requirements, and user stories using industry best practice to support solution design and delivery.
• Define, document, and manage non-functional requirements (including performance, security and accessibility), and produce clear reports for senior management on non-functional test results, associated risks, and recommended actions.
• Investigate issues and work with engineering teams to evaluate solution options, and provide evidence-based recommendations to improve compliance, effectiveness and risk management.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and ensure ongoing alignment between business needs and proposed solution
• Manage and maintain the product backlog, ensuring it is current and prioritised, and provide regular reporting to stakeholders
• Support a safe working environment and foster an organisational safety culture that actively supports and is consistent with the Commission’s work health and safety systems and processes. Actively contribute to agency-wide safety initiatives and plans.

• Balancing business needs with resources, and timeframes to set realistic expectations and achievable outcomes
• Managing completing priorities and stakeholder interests across diverse business areas to drive alignment and inform decision-making.
• Ensuring solutions aligned with organisational strategy while positioning the business to meet future needs.

Key knowledge and experience

• Proven experience in eliciting, analysing and managing functional and non-functional requirements.
• Proficient in tools such as JIRA, Confluence and Visio
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Government experience

Fixed term contract until end of June 2027
Up to $146,945 + Super + annual leave
Work from home 2 days, 3 in office.
