Senior Business Analyst

Position Overview

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will serve as a senior individual contributor responsible for understanding business and technology needs, defining desired outcomes, and helping shape the capabilities and solutions required to achieve them.

Unlike a traditional Business Analyst role focused primarily on documenting requirements, this position maintains ownership from initial discovery through implementation and outcome validation. You will develop a deep understanding of your assigned technology or operational domain, identify opportunities for improvement, define priorities and requirements, partner on solution design, and ensure delivered capabilities achieve their intended outcomes.

Depending on the assigned domain, this role may support enterprise applications, engineering platforms and Developer Experience, technology operations, Problem Management, or other technology capabilities.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure, Operations, and other technology teams to translate needs into scalable, maintainable solutions while balancing business value, technical feasibility, operational impact, and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop deep expertise in the assigned business, technology, or operational domain and serve as a trusted subject matter expert
• Own discovery and analysis from initial problem identification through solution delivery and validation of outcomes
• Define problems, desired outcomes, measures of success, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria
• Develop and maintain capability roadmaps and prioritized backlogs based on business value, technology needs, operational risk, and strategic priorities
• Understand the users and stakeholders of assigned capabilities, including their workflows, pain points, personas, and evolving needs
• Partner with architects, engineers, and other technical specialists to develop high-level solution designs and evaluate solution options
• Analyze current-state processes, systems, integrations, data flows, dependencies, and operational constraints to inform solution decisions
• Ensure solutions consider scalability, maintainability, reliability, security, integration requirements, and long-term architectural direction
• Translate complex business and technology problems into clear requirements and actionable work for delivery teams
• Maintain ownership throughout implementation rather than ending involvement after requirements are documented
• Make or facilitate prioritization decisions, resolve requirement questions, and ensure delivery remains aligned with the intended outcome
• Define measurable success criteria and evaluate delivered capabilities against expected business, technology, or operational outcomes
• Use data, operational metrics, user feedback, incidents, and other signals to identify improvement opportunities and inform priorities
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes, eliminate recurring problems, reduce manual effort, and improve technology effectiveness
• Facilitate alignment across stakeholders when solutions span multiple teams, systems, or business functions
• Develop clear documentation including process flows, capability requirements, high-level solution designs, roadmaps, workflows, and decision records
• Communicate recommendations, risks, priorities, and outcomes to technology and business leadership
• Drive continuous improvement within the assigned capability or domain

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, technical product ownership, technology consulting, enterprise applications, IT service management, or related technology roles
• Demonstrated experience owning complex technology or operational initiatives from discovery through implementation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify underlying problems rather than simply document requested solutions
• Experience defining requirements, acceptance criteria, processes, workflows, and measures of success
• Ability to understand technical architecture, integrations, APIs, data flows, system dependencies, and operational processes
• Experience partnering with architects and engineers to evaluate and shape technology solutions
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work based on value, risk, effort, dependencies, and strategic priorities
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence decisions without direct authority
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to operate independently and manage ambiguity within complex technology environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent professional experience considered

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise applications, engineering platforms, Developer Experience, technology operations, or IT Service Management capabilities
• Experience developing capability roadmaps and managing prioritized technology backlogs
• Experience with Salesforce, Azure DevOps, Jira, ServiceNow, observability platforms, or comparable enterprise technologies
• Familiarity with Agile software development and modern technology delivery practices
• Familiarity with ITIL, Problem Management, DevOps, or SRE practices
• Experience working with APIs, integrations, workflow automation, or enterprise application architectures
• Experience supporting regulated or business-critical technology environments
