Senior Business Analyst
Summary
A 12-month fixed-term Senior Business Analyst role in MAS's Innovation and Digital team (Auckland or Wellington), bridging business stakeholders and Agile delivery teams. Day to day: leading discovery workshops, eliciting and documenting requirements, writing user stories and process maps, and supporting delivery through planning, testing and implementation.
MAS is looking for a seasoned Senior Business Analyst to join our Innovation and Digital team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering business and technology initiatives that improve member experiences and support MAS's transformation objectives. The role acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and delivery teams, helping to define problems, identify opportunities and translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements. This position can be based in either our Auckland or Wellington Office.
About the role
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will lead discovery and analysis activities, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and work closely with Product Owners, Delivery Leads, Architects, Developers and Test Analysts to ensure successful delivery outcomes. You'll help shape solutions that deliver value for members and the business while supporting continuous improvement across our Business Analysis practice.
What you'll be doing
Leading discovery workshops and stakeholder engagement activities.
Eliciting, analysing and documenting business, process, data and system requirements.
Developing high-quality user stories, acceptance criteria and business requirements.
Creating artefacts such as process maps, user journeys, use cases and story maps.
Identifying risks, dependencies and opportunities to support effective decision-making.
Supporting delivery teams through planning, refinement, testing and implementation activities.
Building strong relationships across business and technology teams to drive alignment and outcomes.
What you'll bring
Significant experience as a Business Analyst working on complex business and technology initiatives.
Strong requirements management and business analysis capability across the full delivery lifecycle.
Experience facilitating workshops and engaging with senior stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex information for different audiences.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and process improvement skills.
Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience. Business Analysis certification is desirable.
