Senior Business Analyst
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead requirements elicitation and analysis across the business units, working directly with the teams who run them
• Design the target process rather than automating the current one, challenging steps that exist only by convention
• Translate requirements into functional specifications, identifying dependencies and impacts across business units and systems
• Write clear, testable acceptance criteria that can be verified automatically, before development begins
• Own the correctness of what you ship, not only its delivery
• Build applications using AI development tools within the central data model
• Prepare and maintain functional specifications, process flows, user stories and data mapping documents
• Coordinate with business unit leads, the data architect and the software engineer through delivery
• Prepare and support UAT, test scenarios, defect analysis and issue resolution
• Prioritise the delivery queue with business stakeholders, providing analysis and constraints to support decisions
• Agree the acceptance criteria of Associate Business Analysts before their work begins, and support their development
• Report progress, risks and scope changes early, with proposed mitigation
AT SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST LEVEL
• Own the correctness of work produced by the other analysts in your group, not only your own
• Act as the anchor for the group — running the weekly working session and moving capacity when one area is overloaded and another is idle
• Represent the group in cross-group planning and in the monthly operations review
QUALIFICATIONS
• 3-8 years in e-commerce, marketplace or commerce operations, including a period holding accountability for an outcome rather than a deliverable
• Ability to establish what the business actually needs rather than what it first asks for, through elicitation, observation and challenging the current process
• Ability to design a target process rather than document the current one, and to justify what was removed
• Ability to write clear, testable acceptance criteria
• Data literacy: read an entity relationship diagram, interpret a SELECT statement containing a JOIN, distinguish an incorrect figure from an incorrect join, and recognise when a requirement implies a new field or table
• Enough operational depth to spot an implausible figure in your area without prompting
• Competence in directing AI development tools and, more importantly, in verifying their output
