Salary: $850 - $950 per day
About the OpportunityOur client, a well-established provider in the health, disability and community services sector based in Auckland, is replacing its current on-premise rostering system with Allocate Optima, a modern, cloud-based rostering platform, targeting a go-live of April 2027. Allocate Optima is in use by 250+ organisations globally and is backed by a vendor with a strong reputation in the health and care technology space.
We're looking for a highly experienced Senior Business Analyst to join this Rostering System Replacement Project and help ensure Allocate Optima is implemented in a way that is robust, secure and genuinely supports both frontline staff and the people the organisation supports. This is a contract engagement through to go-live, with strong potential for extension into further projects for the right candidate.
The Role
The current rostering system supports both staff rostering and payroll - including hours processing, award interpretation, leave requests and approvals, and travel time capture - so this is a business-critical, high-visibility project. You'll work closely with operations, payroll, IT and the implementation vendor to ensure requirements are captured accurately and nothing falls through the cracks during migration to Allocate Optima.
One known complexity: certain frontline staff groups are currently allocated to shifts through the organisation's client management system rather than the rostering system directly, and this functionality will need to be built into Allocate Optima - strong systems-thinking and the ability to map functionality across multiple platforms will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end business analysis across the rostering system replacement, from current-state process mapping through to future-state design in Allocate Optima
- Gather and document detailed requirements from rostering, payroll and frontline operations stakeholders
- Work with the implementation vendor to translate business requirements into Allocate Optima configuration and identify gaps or risks early
- Map and resolve cross-system functionality gaps, including workflows currently handled outside the core rostering system
- Support data migration validation, user acceptance testing and change management activities
- Communicate progress, risks and decisions clearly to project sponsors and operational leadership
- Ensure rostering and payroll processes remain compliant, robust and well-supported throughout transition
About You
- Extensive, demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst on complex systems replacement or implementation projects - rostering, payroll or workforce management system experience highly regarded; Allocate Optima experience a strong plus
- Proven ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior operational leadership
- Strong requirements-gathering, process-mapping and documentation skills
- Experience with cloud system migrations and vendor-managed implementations
- Comfortable working in a regulated, people-focused operating environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the judgement to manage ambiguity and competing priorities
- This role is for highly experienced BAs only - candidates should be able to demonstrate significant runs on the board in similarly complex projects
