Main tasks, roles and responsibilities

Requirement Engineering & Stakeholder Management

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements for analytics/reporting use cases (interviews, workshops, process walkthroughs).
  • Moderate workshops and align stakeholders across business functions, IT, and external partners.
  • Translate business needs into clear, testable functional requirements (user stories, acceptance criteria, functional specs)
  • Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, testable, and ready for implementation.

SAP ERP ECC Domain Focus (Quantities & Value Flows)

  • Analyze and map end-to-end business processes and related data flows in SAP ECC (e.g., order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, production/logistics—depending on scope).
  • Understand and validate Value and Quantity streams: quantities, values, postings, document chains, and controlling/logistics implications relevant for analytics.
  • Ensure correct business logic and semantic consistency for KPIs, measures, and dimensional models.
  • Translate business process logic into analytics and reporting requirements.

Analytics & Solution Alignment

  • Work closely with solution architects and BI/analytics teams to shape solution options and ensure feasibility.
  • Contribute to target concepts for modern analytics (data products, semantic layers, harmonized KPI definitions, governance).
  • Support the transition towards modern analytical approaches and platforms (incl. SAP Business Data Cloud direction), ensuring requirements fit the target architecture.

Backlog & Delivery Support

  • Create and maintain a prioritized backlog; support release planning and effort/value discussions.
  • Coordinate and steer external consultants/developers from a functional perspective (scope clarification, requirement refinement, review of deliverables).
  • Support functional testing (UAT preparation, test cases, defect triage) and ensure user enablement (documentation, trainings).
  • Ensure proper documentation and user enablement (guidelines, training materials)

Experiences and requirements

Education

  • University degree in Business Informatics, IT, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or similar.

Work experience

  • Several years of experience as Business Analyst / Requirements Engineer / Functional Consultant in an SAP-centric environment (analytics, reporting, or process-related IT).
  • Proven track record in requirement engineering and stakeholder management in complex, cross-functional settings.

Domain & SAP knowledge (must-have)

  • Strong understanding of SAP ERP ECC processes and data, especially quantities and value flows and how they impact reporting/analytics.
  • Experience translating business process logic into KPI definitions and reporting requirements.

Analytics / Data knowledge (nice-to-have)

  • Understanding of analytics architectures and concepts (semantic models, data modeling basics, data quality, KPI governance).
  • Exposure to SAP BW / BW4HANA, CDS-based concepts, or other SAP analytics components is beneficial (no developer role, but “solution literacy” expected).
  • Familiarity with transformation programs (from legacy solutions toward modern data/analytics platforms) is a plus.

Required skills and competencies

  • Strong facilitation and communication skills; confident in moderating meetings and workshops.
  • Structured, analytical thinking; able to handle ambiguity and drive clarity.
  • Ability to translate between business language and IT delivery language.
  • High ownership, reliability, and quality mindset (documentation, traceability, testability).
  • Experienced working in an international, virtual team.
  • Strong requirement engineering mindset (clarity, structure, completeness).
  • Confidence in stakeholder management.
