Senior Business Analyst
Summary
Upstaff is hiring a Senior Business Analyst to support enterprise I&IT initiatives within the Ontario Public Service in Toronto. Day to day, the analyst gathers and documents requirements, models business processes, and drives process improvements in Agile projects, supporting system development, QA/UAT, and implementation with a healthcare/claims focus.
In this role, you will collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to analyze complex business needs, develop business cases and functional specifications, and drive process improvements. You will play a key role in translating business requirements into scalable technology solutions, supporting system development, testing (QA/UAT), and implementation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive I&IT business analysis services for diverse client needs
- Collaborate with stakeholders and SMEs to gather, document, and analyze requirements
- Lead business analysis activities to identify business problems and opportunities.
- Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements
- Develop business cases, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses
- Conduct requirements gathering sessions (JAD, interviews, workshops, mockups)
- Perform:
- Business process modelling
- Use case modelling
- Data and process flow modelling
- Define:
- Business rules
- Non-functional requirements
- Align deliverables with:
- OPS Unified Project Management Methodology
- Enterprise Architecture standards
- SDLC frameworks
- Monitor project progress and report to stakeholders and I&IT leadership
- Develop traceability matrices and performance metrics
- Support testing strategies (QA, UAT) and implementation activities
Must-Have Skills
- Strong experience in business analysis for system development
- Experience with rules engines or business process automation platforms
- Expertise in:
- Business modelling
- Use case modelling
- Data modeling (conceptual & logical)
- Process & data flow diagrams
- Hands-on experience in Agile methodology projects
- Proven ability to lead business analysis initiatives and document requirements.
