Senior Business Development Manager
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager based in the United States.
This is a high-impact strategic partnerships role focused on shaping complex product collaborations across a rapidly evolving technology landscape. You’ll identify, structure, negotiate, and scale partnerships that can materially expand and improve a portfolio of consumer-facing products. The role combines commercial strategy with hands-on execution, requiring close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams. You’ll work on innovative, sometimes first-of-their-kind initiatives where product vision, economics, and strategic value must be developed together. You’ll also manage a portfolio of complementary and competing partners while navigating fast-changing AI and technology markets. With significant autonomy and end-to-end ownership, your work will directly influence product evolution, distribution, user engagement, and long-term growth.
Accountabilities
- Lead the strategy and execution of complex product partnerships, from identifying opportunities and developing business cases through negotiation, launch, and ongoing optimization.
- Source and cultivate relationships with high-value strategic partners that can strengthen consumer products, AI-powered experiences, search capabilities, subscriptions, and related offerings.
- Develop new partnership models and playbooks from the ground up, particularly for opportunities where product, commercial, and technical considerations need to be defined collaboratively.
- Structure and negotiate commercial agreements, independently developing terms, financial models, and deal structures while partnering with Legal and Finance as needed.
- Manage a portfolio of strategic partnerships, balancing complementary and competing providers and adapting strategies as market conditions, pricing, capabilities, and competitive dynamics evolve.
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to translate partnership opportunities into successful product initiatives and measurable business outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to expand distribution, improve product capabilities, increase user engagement and retention, and create new growth channels for AI-related services.
- Build trust and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, providing decisive leadership throughout complex, high-visibility initiatives.
- Take full ownership of partnership projects, including scoping, execution, stakeholder alignment, and post-launch evaluation.
- 10+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, strategic partnerships, or a closely related field, with a strong track record of delivering complex commercial initiatives.
- At least 2 years of experience providing cross-functional leadership across partnership projects involving teams such as Legal, Engineering, Product, and Finance.
- Experience in consumer internet, consumer software, or other user-facing technology businesses, with a strong understanding of the AI/LLM ecosystem and the integration of AI capabilities into consumer products.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex product partnerships end-to-end, particularly collaborations involving new products, technical complexity, and joint value creation rather than traditional sales or straightforward API licensing.
- Strong commercial and financial capabilities, including the ability to develop deal terms, build financial models, evaluate economics, and pressure-test partnership structures independently.
- Experience managing multiple strategic partner relationships and making sound decisions when balancing competing priorities, providers, and business objectives.
- Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust quickly with senior internal and external partners.
- Strong strategic thinking, commercial judgment, negotiation skills, and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
- Demonstrated self-sufficiency, ownership, collaboration, and decisiveness when managing high-impact initiatives.
- Familiarity with emerging AI technologies and market dynamics, including LLM-based products and evolving AI capabilities.
- Must be located in the United States or Canada.
- Annual compensation of $200,267 USD, plus stock options.
- Transparent compensation structure, with consistent compensation within the same professional level and global region.
- Flexible, remote-first work environment with no required core working hours and an expected average commitment of approximately 40 hours per week.
- Paid parental leave and broader support designed to support team members throughout different stages of life.
- Office setup support and co-working allowances.
- Company-sponsored health benefits for eligible team members based in the United States.
- Opportunities to work on high-impact, innovative partnerships involving consumer technology and AI.
- Significant autonomy and end-to-end ownership over strategic projects.
- Approximately two company gatherings each year, including an all-hands meeting and team retreat, typically lasting 4–5 days each.
- Collaborative, inclusive, and trust-oriented working environment.
