Senior Business System Analyst
Summary
Senior Business Systems Analyst bridges IT and business teams to analyze, design, and optimize enterprise systems (ERP, e-commerce, supply chain) for retail/logistics efficiency, driving data-driven process improvements and cross-functional project leadership.

Reports: This position serves as a functional leader and subject matter expert and may provide guidance, training, coaching, and mentoring to IT members. Direct supervisory responsibility may be assigned based on organizational structure and business needs.
Compensation Range: $97,000 - $120,000 per year (based on experience)

- Leadership Responsibilities: May provide project leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to analysts and support personnel. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility.
Position Overview
The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as a strategic partner between Information Services and business stakeholders, leading the analysis, design, implementation, optimization, and support of enterprise business systems across the organization.
This role works closely with Retail Operations, Merchandising, Buying, Distribution Center Operations, Inventory Management, Finance, E-Commerce, and Supply Chain teams to identify business needs, improve processes, and implement technology solutions that drive operational efficiency, inventory productivity, revenue growth, and enhanced customer experience.
The Senior Business Systems Analyst provides leadership for complex cross-functional initiatives, serves as a subject matter expert for critical business applications, and delivers data-driven recommendations that support organizational goals and long-term business strategy.

Essential Functions

Business Analysis & Process Improvement
- Serve as the primary business systems advisor for assigned functional areas, partnering with business leaders to identify process improvements and technology solutions.
- Analyze operational, financial, inventory, and customer data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and data-driven business solutions.
- Gather and translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Design and document business processes, workflows, data flows, and system integrations.
- Develop business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and recommendations supporting strategic technology investments.
Systems & Application Support
- Support and optimize enterprise applications including ERP, retail, merchandising, warehouse management, inventory management, e-commerce, and reporting solutions.
- Troubleshoot application and data issues and coordinate resolutions with internal teams and external partners.
- Recommend and implement enhancements that improve system functionality, data quality, operational efficiency, and user experience.
Project Leadership
- Lead cross-functional technology and business initiatives through all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement and coordinate project activities among business users, vendors, consultants, and technical teams.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, risks, testing, deployment, and implementation activities.
- Support technology evaluations, vendor selection, and implementation planning.
Data, Reporting & Analytics
- Serve as a subject matter expert for reporting, analytics, and business intelligence solutions.
- Analyze enterprise data and collaborate with stakeholders to define reporting requirements, performance metrics, and actionable insights.
- Support data governance, data quality, and reporting optimization efforts to ensure reliable and actionable business information.
Technical & Team Support
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring,, end user support, and knowledge transfer to enhance application effectiveness and adoption.
- Support application lifecycle activities, including documentation, testing, upgrades, implementations, and ongoing maintenance.
- Perform limited programming or scripting as needed to support business objectives.
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies, business trends, and industry best practices.
- Participate in departmental planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Required
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in business systems analysis, business analysis, systems analysis, enterprise application support, or related information technology roles.
- Experience gathering business requirements, documenting processes, and translating business needs into technology solutions.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects involving multiple business stakeholders, vendors, and technical resources.
- Experience supporting enterprise business applications and integrated business processes.
- Demonstrated success identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing technology-enabled solutions.

- Experience with business intelligence, reporting, analytics, and data visualization tools.
- Experience with SQL, relational databases, system integrations, APIs, and data governance practices.
- Experience participating in software selection, vendor management, and enterprise software implementations.
- Professional certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, PMP, PMI-PBA, Agile, Scrum, or similar credentials.
