Job Brief

Mayan Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to lead requirements discovery, business analysis, and solution design for enterprise web and mobile applications. This role serves as the bridge between clients, business stakeholders, and technical teams by transforming business objectives into clear, actionable, and well-documented system requirements.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience conducting discovery workshops, facilitating stakeholder discussions, analyzing business processes, and producing high-quality project documentation, including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs), user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, and process flows. They should possess a strong understanding of modern software development methodologies and be comfortable working closely with Product Owners, UX/UI Designers, Software Engineers, and QA teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

This is a part-time hybrid role offering flexibility while contributing to innovative software solutions for clients across multiple industries.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead discovery workshops and requirements elicitation sessions with clients and business stakeholders.

• Analyze complex business processes and recommend technology solutions that improve operational efficiency.

• Translate business needs into detailed functional and system requirements.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive BRDs, FRDs, Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), business rules, user stories, acceptance criteria, and use cases.

• Create process flows, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and system interaction diagrams to communicate functional requirements.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Project Managers, UX/UI Designers, Software Engineers, and QA Engineers throughout the project lifecycle.

• Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, and requirements prioritization.

• Validate that delivered solutions satisfy documented business requirements.

• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), requirements traceability, and change management activities.

• Mentor junior Business Analysts and contribute to improving documentation standards and business analysis practices.

Day-to-day Activities

• Conduct client interviews, workshops, and stakeholder meetings to gather business and system requirements.

• Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for optimization and automation.

• Document functional specifications, workflows, business rules, and system behaviors.

• Write detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and use cases for Agile development teams.

• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure business requirements are accurately reflected in user experiences.

• Work closely with software engineers to clarify requirements, resolve functional questions, and support implementation.

• Review test cases with QA teams to ensure complete coverage of documented requirements.

• Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and project meetings.

• Maintain project documentation throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.

• Support project managers and clients in managing scope changes and requirement updates.

Requirements and Skills

Business Analysis Skills

• 4–8 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Product Analyst, Functional Analyst, or similar role in software development.

• Demonstrated experience leading requirements gathering sessions and stakeholder workshops.

• Strong experience creating BRDs, FRDs, SRS, user stories, use cases, business rules, process flows, and acceptance criteria.

• Solid understanding of business process modeling and workflow documentation.

• Experience working in Agile Scrum and/or hybrid software development environments.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

• Ability to simplify complex business requirements into clear, testable functional specifications.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Familiarity with web applications, mobile applications, APIs, databases, and system integrations.

• Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and relational databases.

• Basic SQL skills for querying and validating application data.

• Experience using Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar project management platforms.

• Experience using diagramming and collaboration tools such as Figma, Lucidchart, Miro, Visio, or Draw.io.

• Understanding of UX principles and wireframing is an advantage.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

• Professional certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, ECBA, PMI-PBA, PSPO, or CSPO are an advantage but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a software consulting or digital transformation company.

• Experience documenting enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, HRIS, FinTech, Real Estate, Healthcare, or SaaS platforms.

• Familiarity with API integrations, cloud-based applications, and enterprise architecture concepts.

• Experience facilitating requirements workshops with executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

• Exposure to UX research, Design Thinking, or Human-Centered Design methodologies is a plus.
