Senior C# JavaScript AI Backend Engineer
Summary
Build and operate scalable backend systems in C# and TypeScript, using microservices and AI-powered features like LLMs and RAG, while optimizing cloud-native infrastructure on AWS/GCP/Azure.
My client is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer.
Not someone who can quote architecture patterns from conference slides. Someone who's worked with them in the real world.
You've seen microservices accelerate a business—and you've seen them turn into a maze of unnecessary complexity. You've built and operated distributed systems at scale. You've investigated production incidents, fixed critical issues under pressure, and learned that every architectural choice comes with trade-offs.
You understand that great engineering isn't about applying patterns everywhere—it's about knowing when they add value and when they don't.
You'll likely thrive here if you have:
- 8–10+ years of experience building and operating production-grade backend systems
- Strong hands-on expertise in:
- Microservices
- Domain-driven design (DDD)
- Test-driven development (TDD)
- Event-driven architecture
- CQRS
- .NET / C#
- TypeScript
- Go
- Node.js
- Saga patterns
- Circuit breakers
- Clean architecture
- The judgment to know when not to use these approaches
Bonus points for:
- Frontend experience with React, Next.js, or similar frameworks
- Production experience with AI-powered systems, including:
- LLMs
- Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
- AI agents
- Evaluation frameworks
- Model context protocol (MCP)
- Vector databases
- Prompt engineering
- Cost optimization
- AI observability
- Experience leading small engineering teams, mentoring developers, or owning a product domain end-to-end
Deep experience with cloud-native platforms and practices:
- AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Containers and orchestration platforms
- Infrastructure as code (IaC)
- CI/CD pipelines
