Senior Camera Systems Engineer
In this role, you will fully own the delivery of infrared camera subsystems to multiple concurrent programs. You will develop visible and thermal infrared camera subsystems, generating technical specifications and interface control documents, running trade studies, managing vendors, and performing performance characterization, testing, and failure mode and root cause analysis. You will define camera test requirements, pass/fail criteria, and test strategies, partnering closely with hardware and test engineering teams. You will define parameters for environmental qualification campaigns, including radiation testing and thermal environmental stress screening, reviewing test data and acting as the technical authority on camera subsystem health. You will support subsystem and instrument-level testing, including vibration, thermal-vacuum testing, and system characterization and V&V. You will also contribute to continuously improving best practices, processes, tools, and methodologies, and collaborate with instrument and spacecraft systems engineers, data scientists, AI&T and production teams, and program managers.
Responsibilities
- Own development of visible and thermal infrared camera subsystems including technical specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), trade studies, vendor technical management, performance characterization and testing, and failure mode and root cause analysis
- Define camera test requirements, pass/fail criteria, and test strategies in partnership with hardware and test engineering teams
- Define parameters for camera environmental qualification campaigns including radiation testing and thermal environmental stress screening (ESS)
- Review test data and act as the technical authority on camera subsystem health
