Senior Civil Engineer, Nature-based Solutions
Description
1. Engineering Design, Drawings & Technical Specifications
Technical Drawings & CAD: Lead the preparation of detailed engineering drawings (2D/3D CAD, BIM/Revit, civil construction details, structural layout plans, hydraulic flow diagrams, and site profiles) for NbS and urban water interventions.
NbS Engineering: Design bio-swales, rain gardens, constructed wetlands, lake inflow/outflow structures, etc.
Hydraulic & Hydrologic Calculations: Conduct hydraulic design, pipe sizing, slope calculations, earthwork estimations, and water balance modelling for NbS systems.
Structural Analysis and Assessment: Perform structural analysis and detailing for RCC structures, retaining walls, foundations, culverts, channels, and water-retaining structures integrating hydraulic loads including water pressure, uplift, seepage, and erosion
Assess structural condition and safety of existing infrastructure (lake bunds, embankments, stormwater drains, culverts); identify distress, settlement, and deterioration; recommend repair, strengthening, or reconstruction
Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) & BOQs: Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), technical specifications, cost estimations, and engineering components for DPRs and tender documents.
2. Project Management & On-Site Technical Execution
Project Delivery: Oversee technical project components from conceptual engineering to ground implementation and site execution.
Site Inspections & Quality Control: Conduct regular site visits across project locations to monitor construction quality, compliance with NbS designs, and structural integrity.
Vendor & Contractor Management: Review technical proposals, coordinate with MEP consultants, structural engineers, civil contractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate drawing execution.
Risk Mitigation: Identify engineering risks, structural bottlenecks, or site constraints early and propose adaptive technical workarounds without compromising structural safety or hydraulic performance.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination
Liaise with technical officers at local municipal bodies, government agencies, civic partners, and private developers on engineering standards and approvals.
Provide technical design clarity to multi-disciplinary teams (planners, landscape architects, hydrologists, and researchers).
Represent WELL Labs in technical workshops, field demonstrations, and stakeholder consultations.
4. Knowledge Management & Capacity Building
Convert field implementation insights into engineering manuals, design guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical knowledge briefs for scaling NbS.
Mentor junior engineers and technical staff on engineering drawing standards and hydraulic calculations.
Impact Delivery
At WELL Labs, we use the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework as a goal-setting method that helps the organization, teams, and individuals achieve their objectives. We expect people joining our team to align with our impact-oriented delivery mindset. You shall be expected to:
Execute program strategy to deliver OKRs for the organisation.
Set and manage your own monthly goals in line with individual OKRs and for team members as and when associated.
