We are seeking candidates to fill the position of Senior Design Engineer / Project Manager to serve a varied client base and help expand our municipal transportation, drainage and utility sector in the Dallas, TX, metro region.
The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of progressive experience and possess the technical, project management, client relationship, and interpersonal skills to independently lead complex assignments, mentor staff, and make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. The successful candidate will possess a can-do attitude, have a passion for and take pride in their work, be a creative thinker, and have a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.
Annual Compensation: $102,000 - $135,000 based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards

SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Independently lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex municipal transportation, drainage, and utility projects.
- Provide critical and constructive review of project work for technical accuracy, conformity with standards, quality assurance, and overall project feasibility.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to design engineers, CAD staff, and other project team members by reviewing work, answering questions, and challenging assumptions.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and other staff necessary to complete assignments on time and within budget.
- Conduct site visits to assess project site conditions, drainage patterns, utility availability, construction progress, and other factors that may impact project feasibility or conformance to plans and specifications.
- Prepare, review, and manage scopes of services, budgets, schedules, proposals, agreements, subconsultant efforts, and contract amendments for complete projects.
- Support business development and capital project discovery with current and prospective municipal clients to help build the team’s project pipeline.
- Manage multiple projects and delegate assignments to staff while monitoring schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Independently perform, evaluate, and review engineering calculations and analyses.
- Prepare and review engineering reports, permit applications, bid documents, construction documents, and other technical written communications.
- Review and troubleshoot plans, hydrologic and hydraulic models, calculations, site layout, utility design, grading and drainage, and erosion/sedimentation control.
- Conduct and prepare concise peer reviews of subdivision and site plan review permit applications submitted to municipal clients for approval.
- Review, understand, and interpret design guidelines, specifications, ordinances, and rules and regulations associated with municipal projects, including municipal, state, and federal regulations, DOT design guidelines, and other applicable criteria.
- Represent projects at design team, client, contractor, and regulatory review meetings.
- Interact and communicate with staff, team members, clients, contractors, subconsultants, and regulatory officials.
- Manage schedules and deliverables to exceed client expectations.
- Process invoices, prepare contract amendments, and manage receivables as assigned.
- Receive guidance and supervision relating to overall project objectives, critical issues, new concepts, policy matters, and unusual design conditions and developments.
- Other duties as assigned.
SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Experience with design and plan production in AutoCAD Civil 3D, BlueBeam, and applicable engineering model software
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards
- Knowledge of state and federal permitting requirement
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive engineering experience including demonstrated experience leading design tasks or projects
Core Skills:
- Strong technical skills
- Strong client relationship skills and ability to represent projects in client, regulatory, and public agency settings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
