Senior Cloud Database Migration Engineer

About the Role We are looking for a Senior Cloud Database Migration Engineer to lead end-to-end database migrations across AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI, and on-premises environments. The role involves migration planning, execution, cutover, performance optimisation, and ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess databases, dependencies, compatibility, and migration requirements.
• Design and execute homogeneous and heterogeneous database migrations.
• Use AWS DMS/SCT, Google DMS, Datastream, Azure DMS, and CDC replication tools.
• Handle schema conversion, SQL tuning, data validation, cutover, and rollback.
• Automate migration workflows using Terraform, Python, Bash, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement cloud security, networking, backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring.
• Lead customer engagements, prepare documentation, and mentor junior engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

• 58 years in database engineering, with at least 3 years in cloud database migrations.
• At least 3 production migrations between AWS and GCP.
• Strong knowledge of at least two databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MongoDB.
• Experience with AWS DMS/SCT, Google DMS/Datastream, and Azure DMS.
• Knowledge of CDC, replication, schema conversion, advanced SQL, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Python, Bash, cloud networking, and security.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills

• Data warehouse and NoSQL migrations.
• Kubernetes-hosted databases and managed services experience.
• Relevant AWS, GCP, Azure, or Terraform certifications.

Soft Skills

• Strong communication, customer management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ownership mindset and ability to manage critical migration cutovers.
• Willingness to support occasional weekend or after-hours migrations.
