A private sector organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join a high‑performing national delivery team supporting a major customer onsite in Canberra. This role centres on strengthening Azure cloud environments, driving automation, uplifting DevOps practices, and ensuring the stability and security of critical ICT systems.
You’ll work closely with technical specialists and customer stakeholders, applying your cloud expertise across identity, collaboration platforms, endpoint management and operational resilience. This position suits someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving complex problems and leading technical outcomes in a fast‑paced environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the delivery and support of Azure cloud services, including compute, storage, databases and application hosting.
- Applying modern DevOps approaches using Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform), orchestration tools and automation frameworks.
- Strengthening identity and access controls through Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC and Privileged Identity Management.
- Supporting Microsoft cloud technologies across Microsoft 365, Windows 365, Intune, Power Platform and Exchange Online.
- Maintaining resilient ICT environments through monitoring, backup processes, recovery activities and operational governance.
- Working directly with customers and internal teams to resolve issues, provide guidance and ensure reliable service delivery.
- Contributing to environment governance, licensing considerations, and Power Platform management.
- Applying ITIL-aligned practices to ensure consistent, high‑quality service management.
What you’ll bring
- Active government security clearance (mandatory).
- Certified experience across Azure cloud services and modern administration.
- Strong understanding of identity technologies and secure access patterns.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including environment governance and automation.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft 365, Intune, Windows 365 and related cloud ecosystems.
- Demonstrated capability in automation, IaC, DevOps workflows and cloud optimisation.
- Ability to operate in a senior technical role supporting complex enterprise systems.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and service management best practice.
