Senior Cloud Engineer - GCP

SC Cleared or Previously SC Cleared | UK Public Sector | Contract

We're looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to support the assessment and design of a secure, enterprise-scale Google Cloud environment for a major UK public-sector organisation.

Working closely with the Lead Cloud Architect, you'll assess the existing cloud estate, validate technical decisions and develop proof-of-concepts to help shape the future multi-cloud platform.

This is an opportunity to influence the design of a secure, scalable cloud environment, combining hands-on engineering with architecture, security and governance.

• Assess existing AWS and GCP environments, including IAM, security, governance and platform configuration.

• Support the design of enterprise multi-cloud landing zones and governance models.

• Review account and project structures, access controls, logging and security tooling.

• Develop proof-of-concepts covering cloud landing zones, provisioning and governance.

• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.

• Support CI/CD automation, ideally using GitHub Actions.

• Identify technical risks, dependencies and implementation considerations.

• Work alongside the Lead Cloud Architect to validate architectural decisions and future-state designs.

• Active or lapsed SC clearance

• Strong enterprise cloud engineering experience across AWS and GCP.

• Experience designing or implementing cloud landing zones and large-scale account or organisation structures.

• Strong knowledge of IAM, cloud security, governance and audit logging.

• Advanced Terraform / Infrastructure as Code capability.

• Experience with AWS Control Tower, AWS Organizations, Google Cloud Foundation Fabric or equivalent frameworks.

• Strong understanding of multi-cloud platform engineering.

• Previous experience within government, public-sector or regulated environments.

We're also happy to consider candidates who have previously held SC clearance, even if it has since lapsed.

We can explore reactivation or a new clearance application where appropriate, subject to eligibility, the relevant security checks and client approval.
