Senior Cloud Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the technical delivery of customer projects across Microsoft Azure, Windows infrastructure, security and AI services.

Reporting to our Service Delivery Lead, you will translate customer requirements into practical technical solutions, lead implementation and migration activities, and ensure project quality throughout the delivery lifecycle. You will also provide technical guidance to junior engineers and help improve our engineering standards and delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure and Project Delivery

• Design, implement and optimise Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments based on customer requirements.

• Lead technical delivery across cloud deployment, infrastructure migration, system upgrades and security implementation projects.

• Configure and maintain Azure services covering compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring, backup and disaster recovery.

• Implement and support Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, including integration between on-premises infrastructure and cloud services.

• Develop implementation plans, migration procedures, testing plans and rollback arrangements to support reliable project delivery.

• Automate infrastructure deployment and administration using PowerShell, Bicep, Terraform or other suitable tools.

• Support the deployment and integration of Microsoft Azure AI services, including the underlying infrastructure, connectivity and access controls.

Security, Reliability and Optimisation

• Implement cloud security controls covering identity and access management, network protection, secrets management and encryption.

• Review cloud environments and recommend improvements to security, availability, performance and cost efficiency.

• Configure monitoring and alerting, investigate complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis.

• Implement and test backup, recovery and business continuity arrangements according to customer requirements.

• Identify technical risks and dependencies, propose mitigation measures and escalate matters that may affect project delivery.

Customer Engagement and Technical Leadership

• Lead technical discussions with customers to clarify requirements, confirm scope and explain implementation approaches.

• Work closely with architects, project managers, sales and other technical teams to deliver agreed project outcomes.

• Contribute to technical proposals, effort estimates, proof of concepts and solution demonstrations.

• Communicate progress, risks and technical recommendations clearly throughout the project lifecycle.

• Prepare and review solution documentation, configuration records, operating procedures and handover materials.

• Mentor junior engineers, review their technical work and share practical knowledge across the team.

• Improve delivery quality through standardized configurations, reusable scripts and documented engineering practices.

Requirements

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering or cloud project delivery, including 3 years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience.

• Proven ability to deliver cloud infrastructure projects independently and lead technical implementation activities.

• Strong practical knowledge of Azure virtual machines, virtual networks, storage, monitoring, backup and disaster recovery.

• Solid experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid identity environments.

• Good understanding of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, firewalls and private connectivity.

• Experience implementing cloud security controls, role-based access, privileged access and secure configurations.

• Practical experience with PowerShell and infrastructure automation; familiarity with Bicep, Terraform or CI/CD practices is an advantage.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience resolving complex infrastructure and cloud issues.

• Ability to manage multiple technical workstreams, prioritize tasks and maintain clear documentation.

• Strong customer communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters to both technical and business stakeholders.

• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant Microsoft certifications in Azure administration, architecture or security.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure AI services and their infrastructure requirements.

• Exposure to hybrid environments and integration with other cloud solutions.

• Previous experience in a systems integrator, technology consultancy or managed services environment.

• Experience mentoring engineers or leading a technical project team.

• Immediate availability or a short notice period is preferred.
