Senior Cloud Network Engineer & Architect

Summary

Design and operate cross-data-center and hybrid cloud networks using BGP, IPsec, Kubernetes CNI, and Cloudflare, automating with Ansible/Terraform.

Responsibilities

  • Design and operate reliable cross-DC and hybrid connectivity across IPsec, BGP, routing policy, firewalling, DNS, and Cloudflare
  • Build highly available network paths across data centers, public cloud providers, OpenNebula, Kubernetes/Talos, and bare-metal infrastructure
  • Own network changes end to end including design, risk assessment, peer review, rollout, and monitoring
  • Replace manual patterns with documented, observable, and repeatable services using automation and Git-based reviews
  • Debug and resolve production incidents involving Linux networking, BIRD/FRR, strongSwan, and Kubernetes CNI behavior
  • Maintain architecture documents, topology diagrams, runbooks, and IPAM source-of-truth data

Requirements

  • Senior production networking experience in high-availability environments
  • Strong BGP and routing fundamentals including prefix filtering and route policy
  • Deep Linux networking knowledge (iproute2, tcpdump, nftables, conntrack)
  • Experience with IPsec, VPN, and site-to-site connectivity
  • Datacenter networking fundamentals (VLANs, LACP, switching, firewalls)
  • Cloud networking experience (VPC, CIDR planning, security groups, NAT)
  • Kubernetes networking fundamentals (CNI, Services, Ingress, NetworkPolicy)
  • Proficiency with infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu, Git)
  • Strong written communication for remote, asynchronous environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Juniper JunOS and EVPN/VXLAN topologies
  • Knowledge of BIRD/FRR and anycast routing
  • Familiarity with network automation platforms like NetBox, Nautobot, or GitLab CI/CD
  • Experience with Cilium, Calico, or service mesh concepts
  • Exposure to Cloudflare Zero Trust or AWS Transit Gateway
