Senior Cloud Platform Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to help build, secure and operate our AWS and Azure environments, with a primary engineering focus on AWS.

This is a hands-on role with an opportunity to drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation and modern cloud engineering practices across the infrastructure team, while working closely with our Data & AI, Cyber Security and broader technology teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, build and operate secure AWS infrastructure using Terraform and reusable IaC patterns.
• Support and evolve our multi-account AWS environment, including landing zone architecture, governance, guardrails and account onboarding.
• Drive IaC adoption across the infrastructure team, establishing standards and mentoring team members in Terraform, Git and automation.
• Design and support cloud networking and security across AWS and Azure, including centralised networking, connectivity and security controls.
• Implement security and governance requirements through IaC and automation and assist with remediation of cloud security findings.
• Partner with Data & AI and other technology teams to enable secure, well-governed deployment of infrastructure and workloads into AWS.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD and secure infrastructure deployment processes using GitHub Enterprise.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools, including Cursor, as part of day-to-day IaC development, and develop reusable knowledge and patterns covering Terraform, platform standards and review practices.
• Provide BAU support across AWS and Azure, including troubleshooting, incident resolution and continuous improvement.
• Support the progressive adoption of Terraform and automation across existing Azure infrastructure.
• Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks and lead infrastructure components of technology projects.

What We’re Looking For

• Advanced Terraform proficiency and demonstrated enterprise Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, building and operating AWS infrastructure and multi-account environments.
• Practical experience managing and supporting Azure infrastructure.
• Strong cloud networking, network security, IAM and cloud governance knowledge.
• Experience implementing secure IaC, guardrails and automated cloud security controls.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD and automated infrastructure delivery.
• Demonstrated experience supporting production cloud environments and resolving infrastructure incidents.
• Ability to establish engineering standards, influence technical direction and mentor others in IaC adoption.
• Strong understanding and practical application of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills.

Highly Regarded

• AWS landing zone experience, including AWS Landing Zone Accelerator, Control Tower, AWS Organizations or equivalent.
• Centralised AWS networking and AWS native security experience.
• GitHub Enterprise administration and governance.
• Okta, Entra ID and Active Directory experience.
• Infrastructure as Code experience with networking or security platforms.
• Experience supporting data or AI platforms in AWS.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot or equivalent within IaC, platform engineering or automation workflows.
• FinOps or cloud cost optimisation experience.
• Experience working within Financial Services or another regulated environment.
• Relevant AWS and/or Azure certifications.
