What you will be doing\:
As a Senior Commissioning Engineer - Electrical (Strategic Weapons), you will play a vital role in delivering the Strategic Weapon System for the UK's next generation of Ballistic Nuclear Submarines. Working within a highly skilled commissioning team, you will oversee installation, testing and commissioning activities, ensuring systems are delivered safely and perform to the required specification. You will work across commissioning, maintenance and testing activities while collaborating with engineering, build, quality and supply chain teams.
Core duties\:
- Safely supervise, where applicable, and carry out commissioning activities to support the delivery of the Strategic Weapon System
- Demonstrate exemplary Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) behaviours while promoting safe systems of work
- Oversee and provide technical guidance on the installation of Strategic Weapon System electrical equipment
- Produce, review and maintain commissioning and test documentation to support delivery activities
- Conduct testing, commissioning, operation and preventative or corrective maintenance of electrical and electronic systems
- Record test results, maintain accurate performance logs and produce technical reports to support system acceptance
- Represent BAE Systems during customer meetings, technical discussions and training events across the UK and at partner facilities within the USA
- Support Contractor's Sea Trials, including opportunities for shift working and time spent at sea, subject to business requirements and appropriate notice
Your skills and experience\:
- HNC (or equivalent) in an Electrical Engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience within an electrical engineering environment
- Previous experience testing, commissioning or setting to work electrical and/or electronic systems
- Experience working on electrical installation activities within complex engineering or industrial environments
- Understanding of engineering documentation, test procedures and recognised test standards
- Experience of, or commitment towards, achieving professional registration with opportunities for continued professional development
- Knowledge or experience of fibre optic installation and testing would be advantageous

The Strategic Weapons Test and Commissioning Team\:
You will join the Strategic Weapons Test Organisation, one of five specialist test teams responsible for proving each submarine's capability before delivery to the Ministry of Defence. Working on one of the UK's most technically advanced defence programmes, you will help commission both current and emerging technologies that contribute to the nation's strategic defence capability. This role offers the opportunity to influence design, build and commissioning activities across submarine programmes while working closely with engineering, production, quality and supply chain teams. Through close collaboration with our US shipbuilding partners and equipment manufacturers, there are also opportunities for international travel, technical development and career progression. Relocation support packages are available across Submarines roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
