We are seeking an experienced Senior Commodity Manager – PCBA & Electronics to lead the end-to-end sourcing, purchasing, and supplier-management strategy for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) and electronic commodities. This role will ensure continuity of supply, manage material requirements planning (MRP) activities, mitigate supply-chain risk, and drive cost and performance improvements in alignment with product roadmaps.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing electronic commodities and electronic contract manufacturers, strong commercial and negotiation skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This position is located onsite in Reno, Nevada
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase PCBA and electronic commodities in accordance with MRP requirements.
- Review order-action reports and execute purchase-order cancellations, reschedules, and other required actions.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement sourcing, cost-reduction, and risk-mitigation strategies aligned with product roadmaps.
- Resolve production material shortages and communicate status updates to impacted internal teams.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and supply commitments with suppliers.
- Evaluate inventory levels and maintain materials in line with target safety-stock requirements.
- Coordinate supplier setup and resolve invoice discrepancies in partnership with Accounting.
- Establish, monitor, and report supplier KPIs; lead corrective actions and continuous-improvement efforts to strengthen supplier performance.
- Review assigned nonconformance reports (NCRs) and process supplier returns promptly.
- Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for PCBA and electronic commodities in collaboration with Engineering and key technology suppliers.
- Lead cross-functional teams and manage projects from planning through execution, including tracking and reporting progress.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing demands, and provide clear status reporting.
- Strong technical knowledge in PCBA Assemblies and Electronic Components
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to read and interpret correspondence, reports, engineering drawings, specifications, and related technical documentation.
- Knowledge of current electronic-component and supply-chain market trends.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field from a regionally accredited university required.
- Minimum of seven years of overall purchasing or commodity-management experience required.
- Minimum of five years of experience managing PCBA and electronic commodities required.
- Minimum of five years of experience working with electronic contract manufacturers required.
- New Product Introduction (NPI) experience required.
- Experience with contracts preferred.
- Strategic sourcing experience preferred.
- Experience with D365 and/or SAP preferred.
