Senior Consultant – Digital

Summary

Senior consultant leading AI-focused digital transformation projects for public sector and enterprise clients, bridging strategy, technology, and delivery.

The business

We’re an AI-native, human-led business built to help clients reimagine, reinvent, and lead their markets into the AI era. We bring the imagination, intellect and market insight, execution smarts, and adaptive approach to collaboration required to help leaders deliver real change.

We work with clients in four closely interdependent markets: central Government, including departments, agencies, and strategic, commercial suppliers; health and care, including national bodies, trusts, place-based partners, and commercial and digital suppliers; education, including national bodies, awarding organisations, and front-line institutions; and, the FTSE - principally leveraging our expertise in AI and associated capability building.

Through A WORKS we collaborate with thought leaders, innovators, and AI-specialist devs to build products which tackle the biggest problems we see in the markets we support – setting aside the consulting commercial model to work in whatever ways best solve the problem.

For example, through Project Shybird, we’re building an AI-powered platform and apps which reimagine the learning value chain: conducting epic capability research, supporting rapid high-quality qualification and programme definition, enabling course design and content creation, personalisation of learning experiences – and new levels of insight for the future.

We’re a business powered by the passion, grit, insight, intellect, and execution-smarts of our people: a tightly knit team of experts, willing to challenge market convention, and our colleagues, in pursuit of the transformational change we believe is possible through the dawn of the AI era.

The role

We're looking for a senior consultant to lead client engagements with a strong digital and technology focus, and a particular emphasis on AI. This is a consulting role, meaning the successful candidate will be as comfortable designing an operating model or leading a conversation with senior client sponsors as they are getting into technical detail – someone who can earn genuine credibility with technologists but can deliver projects in the client’s wider context.

You'll currently be a Senior Consultant or equivalent in a technology or digital practice – whether at a consultancy, in a public sector digital or DDAT function, or in a client side digital leadership role – with five or more years' experience at management level, owning substantial work streams in large client engagements or leading smaller engagements yourself.

You'll bring solid grounding in digital and technology, experience of public sector digital environments and standards and the ambition to build something in a fast-moving, AI-native business.

The range of responsibilities include:

  • Consulting engagements focussed on client strategy and operating model or service solution design, with a strong focus on digital and AI – supporting clients to see how their current model can be transformed to deliver more efficiently and better outcomes for those they serve whether in education, health, central Government or enterprise.
  • Consulting engagements delivering transformation with a digital focus, supporting clients to identify and roll out the technology products they need to make their transformation successful, including where Avencera’s development capability can provide that solution.
  • Consulting engagements focused specifically on reviews of DDAT functions, particularly in the public sector – being able to advise on the optimal technology stack for the client, and wider workforce requirements, in the context of GDS standards.
  • Within consulting engagements, translating for the client – acting as the trusted voice in the room, turning architecture, delivery and technology risk into recommendations that non-technical sponsors and stakeholders can act on with confidence
  • Overseeing development projects delivered for clients, providing the leadership and oversight that keeps our development team accountable for scope, quality and timeline – bring the critical, independent eye to progress, risk and governance and reporting confidently to senior stakeholders.
  • Building a strong relationship with our development team, engaging confidently on technical detail without needing to get into the weeds, so that requirements are fully understood and opportunities to do more are brought back to consulting teams.
  • Acting as Avencera's champion on digital and technical credibility amongst more junior colleagues, coaching them to engage confidently with technical stakeholders
  • Support go-to-market efforts on digital across all of our markets – including the identification of and engagement with target clients; development of thought leadership pieces; and, acting as the digital and AI expert in the room through sales processes.
