Senior Consultant - Project Controls
We are seeking a capable individual to support commercial, contract management, and cost management activities across UK&I Transport & Infrastructure projects.
The role is focused on delivery and execution, enabling project teams in contract administration, change control, cost tracking, and commercial reporting while ensuring compliance with UK standards.
The position works closely with PMO, Project Managers, and senior commercial leads, providing direct support to the Principal Consultant, ensuring high-quality, timely, and data-driven commercial delivery across projects
1. Project Commercial Delivery
- Support the project management team in all aspects of contract administration.
- Assist in:
- Change control (pricing, tracking, and forecasting)
- Compensation events, variations, and claims support
- Cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting
- Contribute to preparation of:
- Cost estimates and budgets
- CVRs, financial reports, and cashflow updates
- Procurement documentation and tender support
2. Contract Administration & Controls
- Manage and maintain contractual registers:
- Early Warning Notices (EWN)
- General Communications (GC)
- Compensation Events (CE)
- Track contractual timelines and highlight upcoming deadlines.
- Support drafting of contractual communications and notifications.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, including mobilisation processes.
3. Cost, Risk & Commercial Support
- Support cost control and financial monitoring across project lifecycle.
- Assist in the maintenance of commercial risk registers.
- Support identification and tracking of risks, opportunities, and entitlements.
- Assist with claims, including inflation and commercial adjustments.
- Provide support in resolving client commercial issues such as withheld or disallowed costs.
4. PMO Integration & Coordination
- Work with PMO and Project Controls teams to align commercial data with programme and delivery.
- Ensure change impacts are reflected in schedules and cost forecasts.
- Support coordination of dashboards, trackers, and commercial reporting outputs.
5. Governance & Compliance
- Support adherence to defined commercial processes, templates, and standards.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality in commercial outputs.
- Participate in QA/QC reviews and ensure documentation completeness.
6. Digital Tools & Reporting
- Use tools such as:
- Advanced Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables)
- Power BI (supporting dashboard reporting)
- Support maintenance of structured commercial trackers and registers.
- Contribute to data-driven reporting and improved visibility.
- Exposure to CostX / 2D–5D measurement / BIM workflows is desirable and encouraged.
7. Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with Project Managers, PMO teams and Principal Consultants.
- Support communication between GCC and UK teams.
- Provide timely and accurate commercial inputs to support project delivery.
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying / Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 6 - 10 years of QS / Cost Management / Commercial experience, including UK project exposure.
- Experience working in a professional services / infrastructure / engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of:
- NEC, JCT contracts
- NRM, CESMM measurement standards
- RIBA Stage 0–4 cost planning
- Experience in:
- Change control and contract administration
- Cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting
- Maintaining contract registers and commercial documentation
- Exposure to working with international teams or projects.
- Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools.
Tools & Technology
- CostX (advanced – 2D/3D/5D)
- Advanced MS Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables)
- Power BI (dashboarding and reporting)
- Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word)
- Exposure to BIM/5D workflows and digital cost management systems
Desirable
- Professional membership and Professional Qualification (e.g., RICS, APM)
- Experience in Rail, Roads, Civils, Water or Infrastructure projects
- Exposure to ERP systems and structured cost databases
