Senior Consultant - Public Affairs & Government Relations

Purpose of role
We have an exciting opportunity for a public affairs & government relations professional (at Senior Consultant level) to join our Public Affairs division in Bucharest.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the Romanian and EU public institutions and to be able to design and implement complex Public Affairs plans. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent written & oral communication skills, a highly analytical mind and a good network of contacts among Romanian key decision makers and influencers.
The day to day
- Provide timely and relevant support in advising key clients and prospective clients, informed by sector knowledge and broad intelligence-gathering on policy developments
- Develop close client relationships and take full responsibility for your portfolio of clients
- Lead client meetings and internal account management meetings supporting the senior team in reviewing progress, monitoring capacity and allocating tasks
- Responsibility for managing budgets related to the portfolio of clients
- Coaching of junior colleagues and supporting the senior team in identifying and recruiting the best talent
- Project-manage new business activity, including preparation of credentials, proposals and pitches
- Demonstrate an active new business network that can provide significant opportunities for Grayling
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell services between Grayling teams and offices across the network
About you
- Extensive proven experience in a similar position (in-house or consultancy) or in a Romanian or EU institution
- A proven track record of delivering successful Public Affairs campaigns
- Experience in drafting position papers, executive briefings and complex analysis of legislation
- Ability to engage with and act as trusted adviser to senior stakeholder
- A good network of Romanian and EU officials
- Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs
- Excellent knowledge of the local political environment
- Fluent in both Romanian and English.
