Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) builds high-performance GPU platforms for demanding AI, machine learning, and high-performance computing workloads. We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join the Raw Metal Cloud (RMC) team and help deliver reliable, scalable AI infrastructure.
RMC builds the software platform that manages the AI infrastructure lifecycle, from hardware onboarding and inventory through networking, provisioning, validation, rack certification, and customer handoff. Our software connects physical infrastructure with distributed orchestration services to prepare GPU capacity for customer workloads efficiently and reliably.
As an IC3 engineer, you will drive the design, development, and operation of services across Burninator, Inventory, and Hardware Ingestion. You will build scalable workflows to onboard hardware, maintain accurate asset and component records, and orchestrate burn-in testing and validation. Your work will reduce manual intervention, improve hardware readiness, and increase the speed and predictability of GPU capacity delivery.
You will own complex features from design through production, guide technical decisions across service boundaries, and improve system reliability, performance, and operational visibility. You will collaborate with hardware, networking, and operations teams to resolve dependencies and support data center deployments.
We value clear technical judgment, simple designs, ownership, and collaboration. You will influence RMC’s technical direction, mentor engineers, and build software with a direct impact on OCI’s AI infrastructure.
- development of scalable distributed services for RMC’s infrastructure lifecycle platform.
- Build reliable workflows for hardware discovery, inventory, configuration, provisioning, validation, certification, and handoff.
- Develop automation for GPU and server health checks, burn-in testing, diagnostics, triage, and remediation.
- Design orchestration systems that handle long-running operations, retries, partial failures, dependencies, and recovery across large hardware fleets.
- Establish consistent infrastructure state and readiness tracking through APIs, data models, telemetry, and auditable workflow transitions.
- Investigate issues across services, Linux hosts, management controllers, GPUs, and networking components; turn recurring problems into durable software improvements.
- Define and improve service reliability, performance, observability, security, and operational practices.
- Drive technical decisions across teams, lead design and code reviews, and mentor engineers.
- Own components throughout the software development lifecycle, including deployment, production operation, and continuous improvement.
- Build operational tools, dashboards, and alarms to improve troubleshooting and reduce manual effort.
- Improve service scalability, availability, and performance through load testing, failure handling, and performance tuning.
- Write automated unit and integration tests, review code, and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
- Troubleshoot production issues and collaborate with infrastructure, security, hardware, and operations teams.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining production software, with ownership of service components from design through deployment.
- Strong programming skills in Java, python or a comparable backend language.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, concurrency, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Experience developing REST APIs, integrating services, and handling asynchronous data processing.
- Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with Linux, networking fundamentals, TLS, and certificate-based authentication.
- Experience with automated testing, Git, CI/CD, and production troubleshooting using logs and metrics.
- Ability to translate requirements into maintainable solutions and communicate effectively across global teams.
- Experience designing for fault tolerance, concurrency, state management, and recovery in distributed environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives from requirements and architecture through production delivery.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and across organizational boundaries.
- A record of technical ownership, sound engineering judgment, and mentoring other engineers.
- Experience with OCI or another cloud platform, object storage, and infrastructure automation.
- Familiarity with telemetry pipelines, monitoring systems, time-series data, and alerting.
- Experience with hardware management interfaces or protocols such as ILOM, Redfish, gNMI, or MQTT.
- Knowledge of PKI, mutual TLS, and certificate lifecycle management.
- Experience building React and TypeScript interfaces for operational tools.
- Exposure to data center power systems, cooling infrastructure, or hardware repair automation.
