Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer

Discussion

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) builds high-performance GPU platforms for demanding AI, machine learning, and high-performance computing workloads. We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer (IC3) to join the Raw Metal Cloud (RMC) team and help deliver reliable, scalable AI infrastructure.

RMC builds the software platform that manages the AI infrastructure lifecycle, from hardware onboarding and inventory through networking, provisioning, validation, rack certification, and customer handoff. Our infrastructure provides the foundation for deploying and operating these services efficiently and securely.

As an IC3 engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain infrastructure automation supporting RMC services. You will provision cloud environments, build reusable infrastructure-as-code modules, and implement CI/CD pipelines to standardize deployments. Your work will reduce manual intervention, improve environment readiness, and support predictable expansion across data centers.

You will own defined infrastructure components from design through production, improve reliability and observability, and troubleshoot deployment and operational issues. You will collaborate with software, networking, security, and operations teams to resolve dependencies and deliver secure, maintainable solutions.

We value clear technical judgment, simple designs, ownership, and collaboration. You will contribute to technical decisions, mentor engineers, and build infrastructure with a direct impact on OCI’s AI capacity delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop reusable infrastructure-as-code modules for compute, networking, storage, databases, and access policies.

  • Automate environment provisioning, configuration, validation, and service deployment.

  • Build CI/CD pipelines with automated checks, controlled rollouts, and rollback capabilities.

  • Establish consistent logging, metrics, dashboards, alarms, and service health monitoring.

  • Improve availability, recovery procedures, capacity utilization, and infrastructure cost efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot deployment and production issues, resolve cross-team dependencies, and maintain operational runbooks.

  • Apply secure configuration, access management, and certificate and secrets management practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining production software, with ownership of service components from design through deployment.
  • Experience developing and operating cloud infrastructure or production services.

  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or another programming language, plus scripting for automation.

  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools.

  • Strong understanding of Linux, networking, storage, and cloud security fundamentals.

  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.

  • Strong ownership, problem-solving, and cross-team communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OCI services, IAM, virtual cloud networks, and cloud resource provisioning.

  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and distributed systems.

  • Experience with multi-region deployments, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.

  • Exposure to GPU infrastructure, hardware lifecycle automation, or data center operations.

  • Experience migrating operational tools into shared, cloud-hosted environments.
