As the Senior Specialist of Corporate Claims, you will provide direction and support with respect to technical claims management as well as contribute to the development of claims practices and procedures, technical claims training, resources, and communication. You will identify trends and develop innovative solutions to address opportunities and challenges and will collaborate with the team to deliver on objectives and client service expectations.

How you will create impact:

  • Participating in the development of procedures, policies and plans to ensure that agreed upon national benchmarks and goals are met.
  • Evolving our claims handling for the future by successfully implementing strategic new technology and system enhancements.
  • Maintaining and updating resource tools such as corporate claims manuals, bulletins, processes and standards along with administering errors and omissions procedures and decisions including consultation, reporting, documentation, and communication of final evaluation and conclusion.
  • Participating in the development of key performance indicators (KPI) and Performance Indicators (PI) for the department by using dashboards and self-service analytics tools to understand and manage the team and optimize decision making.
  • Partnering with leaders to optimize team performance, collaborating with team members to proactively identify and monitor trends along with building an effective network with members of the business, insurance, and regulatory community.

To join our team:

  • You have seven years of progressive experience in a claims environment and five years of technical claims experience.
  • You have a post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Insurance, Automotive, or a related discipline.
  • Having or working towards Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation, the Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation or pursuing further development is an asset.
  • You have expert knowledge of technical claims and working knowledge of insurance concepts, practices and metrics, and claims management dashboards as well as the business and legal regulatory environment.

Salary information:

Salary range :​ CAD $91,058 to $141,000.00

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
