Senior Counsel - Regulatory
You will provide regulatory legal advice on cryptoassets, e-money, payment services, and account-access obligations across the EU and UK. You will support licensing applications, regulator relationships, corporate transactions, and operational compliance while translating complex regulatory frameworks into clear and actionable guidance.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal support on cryptoasset, e-money, and payment-services requirements
- Support licensing applications and EU/UK licensing or registration workstreams
- Compile application materials and coordinate with outside counsel
- Support regulatory aspects of corporate transactions and structural changes
- Support day-to-day relationships with regulators
- Translate regulatory frameworks into actionable business guidance
- Provide clear recommendations to non-lawyer stakeholders
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer admitted in England and Wales, Ireland, or an EU Member State
- 10+ years of post-qualification experience in financial services regulatory law
- Experience independently owning business-as-usual regulatory workstreams
- Direct regulator-engagement experience
- Experience with MiCA or the UK Cryptoasset Regime
- Experience with e-money and payment services regulation
- Experience in AML/CTF
- Experience with outsourcing arrangements and operational resilience compliance
- Analytical, drafting, and organisational skills
- Plain-English writing ability
- Ability to distill complex legal and regulatory issues into actionable guidance
- Pragmatic approach to legal and regulatory risk
- Ability to operate autonomously
