Senior Credit Controller

Credit ControllerShipley | £30,000–£35,000 + Benefits | Permanent

Are you an experienced Credit Controller who is naturally curious about technology, AI and finding smarter ways of working?

I'm working with a growing and forward-thinking business based in Shipley who are looking to appoint a Credit Controller to join their finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone who not only enjoys the core responsibilities of credit control but is also keen to embrace new technology, identify efficiencies and play an active role in improving finance processes.

The Role

You'll take ownership of your own ledger, managing outstanding debt and building strong relationships with customers, whilst also looking at how technology and AI can be used to make the credit control function more efficient.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your own customer ledger and proactively chasing outstanding debt
  • Contacting customers by telephone and email to secure payment
  • Allocating cash and maintaining accurate customer account records
  • Investigating and resolving invoice and payment queries
  • Monitoring aged debt and providing regular updates on outstanding balances
  • Building strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting month-end processes and reporting
  • Identifying opportunities to improve existing finance processes and ways of working
  • Using AI and technology to streamline processes, improve efficiency and reduce manual administration
  • Supporting the implementation of new systems, tools and processes
  • Working collaboratively with the wider finance team on continuous improvement projects
About You

We're looking for someone who is confident, proactive and commercially minded, with a genuine interest in using technology to improve the way they work.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience within Credit Control, Accounts Receivable or Sales Ledger
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A confident and proactive approach to debt collection
  • Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Good Excel and systems knowledge
  • An interest in AI, automation and emerging technology
  • A willingness to challenge existing processes and suggest better ways of working
  • The ability to work independently whilst also contributing to wider finance projects

You don't need to be an AI expert – we're looking for someone who is open-minded, tech-savvy and excited by the opportunity to learn and use new tools.

If you're an ambitious Credit Controller who wants to do more than simply manage a ledger and would enjoy being involved in AI, automation and continuous improvement, this could be a great opportunity for you.
