About The Role

The Corporate Data Team is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to help define and measure the success of Hearst's enterprise data products. This role will develop analytical products and measurement frameworks spanning audience intelligence, identity resolution, content performance, AI content consumption, and data product adoption. Working closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders, this individual will transform complex data into scalable insights that drive strategic decision making across Hearst Consumer Media. This role will play a key part in measuring how Hearst content is discovered, consumed, and utilized across emerging AI ecosystems, including large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI search, and content licensing initiatives.

This hybrid role is based in New York City and will report into the VP of Audience Analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable audience insights across brands, platforms, and distribution channels using first-party identity, behavioral, and contextual data.
  • Analyze audience composition, engagement, overlap, and growth opportunities to support personalization, advertising, subscriptions, and content strategy.
  • Build reusable audience measurement products that enable self-service analytics across the enterprise.
  • Design measurement frameworks to understand how Hearst content is utilized across AI platforms, including LLM training partnerships, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI-powered search experiences, and emerging content licensing models.
  • Develop dashboards and analytical products that quantify AI-driven content discovery, attribution, engagement, and business impact.
  • Lead the development and execution of data analyses across a diverse range of domains, from digital product performance, to understanding advertising effectiveness across media channels. Utilize data visualizations and presentations to effectively communicate these findings and the team's business impact to a diverse set of technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Develop, build, and maintain reports and dashboards to measure key performance indicators related to identity resolution efforts. Conduct detailed audience segmentation and analysis to inform targeting strategies and content optimization.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, cultivating and strengthening relationships with data, product, and engineering leads across Hearst Consumer Media

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study
  • 5-8 years of experience in a data role, including business intelligence, analytics, data science and/or data engineering
  • Experience defining business KPIs and measurement frameworks for digital products, audiences, and AI-driven experiences.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL, with extensive experience in data mining and working with large-scale data warehouses (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery)
  • Advanced skills in creating reports and dashboards with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau) and translating insights into actionable recommendations
  • Experience with digital publishing, audience measurement, first-party data, identity resolution, content metadata, SEO, AI search, or digital advertising ecosystems is strongly preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and storytelling abilities, with excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills. Proficiency in leveraging data visualizations effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, lead cross-functional initiatives, and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Familiarity with the digital media and publishing landscape, including media research tools (e.g., Nielsen, Comscore) and knowledge of the CTV/digital advertising ecosystem, programmatic media, and cross-platform measurement

Compensation & Benefits

In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York City. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $126,000 to $140,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. For candidates outside New York City, the salary range will be aligned with the specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, training, certifications, and education.
