Project Overview
The client is executing a strategic reporting modernization initiative focused on building a scalable, high-performance analytics architecture.
The current ecosystem consists of multiple technologies, including Apache Druid, MySQL, and Kafka, and requires architectural improvements to support increasing data volumes, ensure reporting consistency, and enable real-time analytics across multiple products.
As a Senior Data Architect / Data Engineer, you will play a key role in assessing the existing architecture, designing the future-state solution, and working closely with engineering teams to implement it.
This is a highly technical, hands-on role with significant influence on architecture and technology decisions.
Your Responsibilities
Assess and analyze the existing multi-store reporting architecture.
Design scalable, high-performance reporting solutions capable of handling billions of events.
Define data models optimized for analytical and reporting workloads.
Design event enrichment strategies using metadata from multiple sources.
Develop efficient approaches for unique-count calculations and large-scale aggregations.
Provide architectural guidance for real-time and near real-time analytics platforms.
Evaluate technologies, architectural patterns, and implementation trade-offs.
Collaborate closely with engineering teams during architecture implementation.
Support reporting migration activities while ensuring data consistency and quality.
Drive best practices around scalability, observability, performance optimization, and data quality.
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across the project.
Must-Have Skills
7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Architect, or in a similar role.
Strong hands-on expertise with Apache Druid.
Solid experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
Extensive knowledge of analytical data modeling.
Experience building real-time or near real-time reporting platforms.
Advanced SQL skills and strong knowledge of MySQL.
Experience processing and analyzing billions of events.
Deep understanding of distributed data systems and performance optimization.
Ability to independently evaluate existing architectures and recommend improvements.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Fluent English (written and spoken).
Nice to Have
Experience with Apache Flink.
Experience building streaming data pipelines.
Knowledge of data enrichment and dimensional modeling.
Experience implementing scalable unique-count solutions (e.g. HyperLogLog).
Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms.
Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.
Experience with ClickHouse.
Knowledge of Lakehouse architectures, Apache Iceberg, or Data Lakes.
Background in SaaS, MarTech, or Customer Engagement platforms.
Experience delivering large-scale reporting migration projects.
