Senior Data Architect
Summary
Design and implement an Enterprise Data Warehouse for a Justice Information Management System using Kimball architecture, ETL processes, and Power BI to consolidate court data marts and improve reporting.
Senior Data Architect
We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to support the Justice Information Management System (JIMS) 3.0, a comprehensive data integration and modernization initiative. This role will focus on designing and implementing an Enterprise Data Warehouse to consolidate multiple disjointed reporting data marts containing court data. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing existing data architectures, performing detailed data profiling, creating design and mapping specifications, and developing Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes. The successful candidate will contribute to evolving the availability, governance, and reporting of court data by implementing a more efficient, user-friendly, and cost-effective reporting architecture that supports strategic, operational, and ad hoc reporting needs.
The Senior Data Architect will facilitate the effective definition and management of data architecture principles, strategies, and standards while identifying and documenting enterprise data requirements. Key responsibilities include developing and leading transition plans to guide current data to its ideal future state, establishing and participating in design reviews and architectural reviews, and providing information, advice, and consultancy to initiatives and projects aligning to the data architecture. The role will also involve developing Power BI reports for testing, performing quality assurance testing of Dimensions and Facts, updating data models for new attributes, staging required data, and providing feedback and lessons learned at project closeout. The candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to promote data models and practices that reduce redundancy and improve data quality across the organization.
Qualifications
- 5 years - Demonstrated experience defining data architecture and using Kimball architecture to develop data marts
- 2 years - Experience working in or with public-sector environments with awareness of public-sector constraints and privacy legislation such as FOIP
- Completed training with structured Query Languages specific to Microsoft T-SQL and/or Oracle and/or PL/SQL, and database development
- Obtained training within the past 5-10 years relating to Cloud Computing and Microsoft Azure and Azure Architecture
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (equivalent experience may be considered; formal education strongly preferred)
Nice to Have
- 5 years - Experience developing using software such as SAP/Sybase's PowerDesigner, or ERWin, or Oracle Designer, or SQL Developer Data Modeler, or Microsoft Visio
- 3 years - Experience using JOIN (Justice Online Information Network) and JIMS (Justice Information Management System) data and data structures, and knowledge of business rules based on Judicial processes
- 2 years - Experience working in or with Court environments, with awareness of the importance of judicial independence
- 1 year - Experience working with information management and cybersecurity policies, directives, and guidelines within limited timelines
- 5 years - Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making
