Our energy & resources client is seeking a Senior Data Architect to assist with technology architecture standards for data governance, data classification, and reference data change controls across structured, unstructured, and geospatial data
Candidates will be in-office 4 days/week in downtown Calgary
Must Haves
- 10+ years of experience as a Data Architect with a focus on data governance requirements into technology architecture implemented by development teams
- Experience in governance architecture across heterogeneous estates, including centralized governance, source governance, and legacy transition sequencing
- Ability to sit in a design reviews with developers and modellers and give specific, implementable direction on the design in front of them
- Experience with Unstructured data governance, DLP, Data quality framework including using tooling such as Databricks Lakehouse Monitoring, DLT, or Microsoft Purview
- University degree in a related discipline (data management, computer science, information management, geomatics, analytics) or equivalent demonstrated experience
Nice to Have
- Geospatial data governance including classification and access control at the feature and attribute level
- Hands-on Microsoft Purview including data map, scanning and classification rules, glossary, lineage, and non-Microsoft integrations
- Hands-on Databricks Unity Catalog including catalogs, schemas, tags, grants, row and column level security, and dynamic masking
- Experience with confidential or restricted data management
- CDMP, CIMP, or DGSP certification
Responsibilities
- Author technology architecture standards for data governance across classification, metadata, access control, retention, lineage, and data quality
- Advise developers, data architects, and data modellers on governance implementation decisions during design and delivery
- Define governance approaches for structured, unstructured, and geospatial data environments
- Establish the target governance toolchain architecture across Microsoft Purview and Databricks Unity Catalog
- Assess the current estate to determine governance ownership, sequencing, and platform constraints
- Develop reference implementations and proofs of concept for governance architecture standards
- Define the data quality technology architecture covering rule execution, validation, monitoring, and enforcement
