Senior Data Center Field Technician (Full-Time / Part-Time)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Center Field Technician to provide high-level, hands-on technical support within mission-critical data center environments. This role is open to both full-time and part-time candidates who are comfortable working night shifts, after-hours, and weekends. The ideal technician brings deep expertise in hardware deployment, network infrastructure, diagnostics, and break/fix operations in a 24/7 production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Data Center Operations: Perform physical rack-and-stack of servers, storage systems, and network appliances; manage structured cabling and connectivity; execute deployment and decommissioning projects.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Lead rapid incident response for L1/L2 hardware and network faults; diagnose downed or offline hosts; execute component-level break/fix repairs.
Inventory & Logistics: Process inbound and outbound hardware shipments, manage spares inventory, and execute routine scanning and audit reconciliation.
Escalations & Documentation: Log all incident reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and change tickets accurately; escalate complex system issues with root-cause analysis.
Coverage: Maintain coverage during scheduled night shifts, weekends, and designated on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 operational continuity.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on data center or enterprise infrastructure technical support.
Hardware & Network Expertise: Deep familiarity with OEM enterprise servers, SAN/NAS storage arrays, fiber/copper cabling standards, and basic switch/router configurations.
Shift Availability: Must be fully available to work night shifts, extended evening hours, and weekend rotations.
Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently during off-peak shifts with minimal direct supervision.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English for cross-team handoffs and ticket documentation.
Mobility: Willingness to travel regionally for site-to-site support or emergencies if required.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: CompTIA Server+, Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA, or OEM hardware certifications.
Tooling: Experience with enterprise ticketing platforms (Jira, ServiceNow) and out-of-band management tools (iDRAC, iLO).
Standards: Solid understanding of data center safety standards, ESD protocols, and hot/cold aisle containment best practices.
