Senior Software Engineer – Asset Management Technology | Galway

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our clients Asset Management team in Galway.

Contract: 12 months

This team focuses on using new technologies, techniques and datasets to support Investment Professionals in generating insights and alpha across investment products. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced, less constrained development environment, rapidly taking ideas from concept and prototype through to production.

The role will be primarily focused on Python, data engineering and analytics, processing large structured and unstructured datasets and building scalable solutions with the potential for parallel processing in AWS. There will also be exposure to Generative AI and Large Language Models, including technologies such as GPT, Gemini and Claude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deliver scalable applications and data-driven solutions.
  • Process and generate analytics from large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Build and maintain custom data pipelines to extract, map, transform and load data across multiple data stores.
  • Rapidly prototype new solutions and take successful concepts through to production.
  • Design technical solutions and lead improvements across existing applications and platforms.
  • Work with data across technologies including Oracle, Snowflake, AWS S3 and PL/SQL.
  • Integrate and extract data from REST APIs.
  • Develop solutions primarily in Python, with opportunities for strong Java or C# engineers to cross-train.
  • Work with Python data libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
  • Support the migration and development of applications within AWS/cloud environments.
  • Use CI/CD practices to support reliable and efficient application delivery.
  • Work closely with application developers, database engineers, data scientists and quantitative technology professionals.
  • Collaborate directly with business and investment stakeholders to take ideas from whiteboard concepts through prototypes and into enterprise applications.
  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation, providing troubleshooting and production support when required.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone with:

  • 6+ years' enterprise software development experience.
  • Strong Python development skills OR a strong Java/C# engineering background with an interest in moving into Python.
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and data structures.
  • Experience processing large datasets and developing scalable applications.
  • Strong experience with RDBMS/database technologies.
  • Experience with technologies such as Oracle, Snowflake, S3 and/or PL/SQL.
  • Strong AWS/cloud computing knowledge.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and modern software delivery practices.

  • Experience extracting and integrating data through REST APIs.
  • Linux and Windows scripting experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience planning, designing and leading technical solutions from inception through delivery.

Experience with Pandas/NumPy, AWS application migrations, parallel data processing, AI/ML workflows or Generative AI/LLMs would be particularly advantageous.

Education

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technology-related discipline, such as Computer Science or Engineering, is required.
