Senior Data Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement robust, scalable data-driven solutions that support key decision-making processes within the Property & Casualty business domain.
This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects utilizing Big Data and Machine Learning to address emerging challenges in the insurance industry.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable and efficient data systems to enable data-driven decision-making
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand data requirements
- Implement data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL/ELT) data from various sources
- Develop data models that support advanced analytics and reporting needs
- Utilize modern programming languages to build data-driven applications focused on user needs
- Ensure the quality and reliability of datasets through validation and testing
- Visualize data insights and tell compelling stories through dashboards using tools like Microsoft Power BI
- Optimize performance and scalability of data infrastructure to meet growing business demands
- Maintain thorough documentation of data architecture, pipelines, and processes
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to propose innovative solutions
- Adhere to Agile and Scrum methodologies to ensure effective project delivery
- Support the adoption and use of advanced platforms such as Palantir Foundry
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or related fields
- Expertise in Python, TypeScript, and SQL with a deep understanding of relational databases
- Skills in data modeling, data visualization, and storytelling with data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and familiarity with Agile development approaches like Scrum
- Experience working with Palantir Foundry or other advanced data platforms
- Background in Insurance, Financial Services, or Finance-related industries is a strong advantage
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Big Data technologies and frameworks
- Proficiency in PySpark for distributed data processing
- Background in Machine Learning or Generative AI applications
- Familiarity with insurance domain concepts or the Property & Casualty business
- Understanding of ETL/ELT solutions and best practices
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Gradle
