A modern, cloud-based cinema operating system providing theater operators with an integrated platform for ticketing, point of sale, concessions, loyalty, marketing, inventory management, and real-time analytics across nearly 300 locations worldwide.

The platform operates within a leading media and entertainment ecosystem focused on innovation, technology, and connected experiences.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and scale the analytics and reporting platform powering business intelligence across nearly 300 theater locations.

The role focuses on designing AWS-based data pipelines and building QuickSight dashboards and embedded analytics that turn large, complex datasets into reliable, decision-ready reporting.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with AWS data infrastructure, QuickSight or comparable BI tools, SQL, and data modeling, and can own reporting solutions end to end — from raw data pipelines to business-facing dashboards. Experience with React/Ruby on Rails is a plus but secondary to the data and reporting responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines integrating databases, APIs, data lakes, and warehouses.
  • Create and maintain AWS QuickSight dashboards, datasets, calculated fields, parameters, and embedded analytics.
  • Implement row-level security, data governance, and reporting performance optimization.
  • Write complex SQL queries and ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Build cloud-native data solutions using AWS services including S3, Athena, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, RDS, IAM, and CloudWatch.
  • Design scalable data models and schemas for self-service reporting.
  • Contribute to architecture and technical decisions across the data and analytics platform.
  • Improve CI/CD, deployment automation, monitoring, reliability, and scalability of data pipelines.
  • Support reporting and analytics features in React/Ruby on Rails applications as needed.
  • Conduct code/design reviews, mentor engineers, and promote data engineering best practices.
  • Partner with Product, Analytics, and business stakeholders to translate reporting needs into technical solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of software/data engineering experience, with significant experience in data pipelines and BI/reporting.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS QuickSight or comparable BI tools such as Tableau or Looker, including dashboards, calculated fields, parameters, and embedded analytics.
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills, including complex queries and performance tuning.
  • Experience with AWS data services such as Redshift, Athena, Glue, S3, and Lambda.
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and data governance.
  • Experience designing scalable data systems and modern data architectures.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, and Agile development.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work directly with business and analytics stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Snowflake or other data warehousing platforms.
  • Python experience for data pipelines or automation.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures or enterprise-scale data platforms.
  • AWS certification.
  • Experience in media, advertising, customer analytics, or reporting products.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools or AI/ML capabilities in data/engineering workflows.
