Senior Data Engineer

They are a large enterprise level organisation who are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a high-performing data team working on enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. This is an opportunity to play a key role in designing and delivering modern cloud-based data solutions while partnering closely with business stakeholders to drive meaningful outcomes.

- Design, develop and optimise scalable ELT pipelines using modern cloud technologies.
- Build robust data solutions leveraging Azure Databricks, Python, SQL and Spark.
- Lead solution design workshops and whiteboard sessions with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Partner with business teams to understand challenges, gather requirements, and translate them into practical data solutions.
- Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design and development through to deployment and support.
- Support critical production environments, troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues where required.
- Implement and enhance CI/CD practices to improve the quality and reliability of data platforms.
- Mentor and coach other Data Engineers, promoting engineering best practices and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with architects, analysts, developers and business leaders on strategic data and analytics initiatives.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation and contribute to engineering standards and governance.
Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed
- Strong experience delivering enterprise-scale data engineering solutions in Azure environments.
- Proven expertise with native Databricks, Python, SQL, Spark and modern ELT frameworks.
- Experience building and supporting cloud-based data platforms and analytics solutions.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, DevOps and CI/CD practices.
- Ability to engage confidently with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience facilitating workshops, whiteboard sessions and solution design discussions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility across the organisation.
- Experience mentoring junior and intermediate engineers.
- A collaborative approach and passion for helping teams deliver high-quality outcomes.
Location - Can be based in Auckland/ Christchurch
