Senior Data Engineer

Job Summary

You will design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and warehouse structures, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, and efficient data solutions that support analytics and data science initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data requirements into effective technical solutions that meet business needs
• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to integrate, transform, and standardize data from multiple sources for consistent data flow
• Manage database operations including ETL processes, performance tuning, and system availability to ensure optimal data infrastructure functioning
• Build and maintain data models and warehouse structures that support analytics and data science objectives
• Implement data governance frameworks, conduct quality checks, enforce security controls, and manage data access mechanisms to safeguard data integrity
• Maintain comprehensive data catalogues, metadata, and technical documentation to support data transparency and usability
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure reliability, accuracy, and high performance in data delivery
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance data infrastructure and improve operational efficiency

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Knowledge of system design, data modelling, data structures, and data warehousing principles
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP to support scalable data solutions
• Proficiency in programming languages including Python, Java, or Scala, and strong SQL skills for data manipulation and querying
• Experience with distributed data technologies such as Spark or Hadoop for handling large-scale data processing
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tools such as Docker, Git, and Terraform to support automated and reliable deployments
• Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills to work effectively within teams and resolve technical challenges
