About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Snowflake Data Engineer to join a strategic project for a global enterprise customer in the manufacturing industry.

In this role, you will take ownership of a production-ready data platform responsible for processing telemetry (IoT) data from manufacturing facilities worldwide. You will combine deep expertise in Snowflake Data Engineering, data pipeline architecture, and cloud integration to design, optimize, and evolve scalable, cost-efficient, and highly observable data solutions.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with significant ownership. You will actively influence the technical direction of the platform, propose architectural improvements, optimize existing solutions, and collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Data Science teams.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement automated onboarding processes for new manufacturing plants and data sources, including external stages, notification integrations, ingestion pipelines, and automated validation testing

  • Design, build, and optimize scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Snowflake SQL and Azure integration capabilities

  • Review and optimize existing Snowflake pipelines for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency

  • Develop cost monitoring and chargeback mechanisms to enable cost attribution by manufacturing facility and data source

  • Design and implement data observability and auditing capabilities, including monitoring of ingestion failures, processing latency, data quality, volume anomalies, and SLA compliance

  • Build and deliver secure data products supporting Data Science and Analytics teams while implementing appropriate access controls

  • Maintain and continuously improve the technical backlog by identifying optimization opportunities and evaluating new Snowflake capabilities

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and drive engineering best practices across the platform

  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering with strong expertise in Snowflake

  • Advanced practical experience with Snowflake features including Stages, Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, Stored Procedures, and Dynamic Tables

  • Strong SQL skills, including experience with semi-structured data (JSON, XML) and data ingestion using COPY INTO

  • Proven experience optimizing Snowflake performance using Query Profile, Clustering Keys, Materialized Views, and Warehouse configuration

  • Experience with Snowflake cost optimization and governance, including Account Usage Views, Resource Monitors, Budgets, and tag-based cost management

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Azure services and integration patterns with Snowflake

  • Experience designing reliable, automated, and metadata-driven data pipelines with robust error handling, idempotency, reprocessing strategies, and data freshness SLAs

  • Hands-on experience with Git-based development workflows and CI/CD for Snowflake deployments using Terraform, SchemaChange, or similar Infrastructure as Code solutions

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate, simplify, and improve existing architectures rather than only extending them

  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within international teams

Nice to have

  • Experience building operational dashboards using Streamlit in Snowflake

  • Experience with Snowpark (Python) for implementing custom transformation logic

  • Familiarity with Snowflake ML Functions or Cortex AI

  • Experience working with IoT, industrial telemetry, or time-series data

  • Experience delivering solutions for manufacturing, regulated industries, or large global enterprises

  • Familiarity with dbt as a transformation framework
