We're transforming the technology that underpins one of New Zealand's largest global produce businesses, connecting data across orchards, packhouses, logistics, sales and international markets to create a single, trusted view of our business.

As we implement SAP S/4HANA, expand our Snowflake platform and continue our cloud transformation, we're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help shape what comes next.

You'll be joining at a pivotal point in our transformation where you'll help:

• Build our enterprise Snowflake platform as the single source of trusted data
• Re-engineer and modernise our data architecture using dbt and cloud-native tooling
• Support one of New Zealand's largest SAP S/4HANA transformation programmes
• Design scalable data products that enable analytics, self-service reporting and future AI capability
• Influence how data is used across an international business operating from orchard to customer
• Help shape the next generation of data engineering, exploring AI-enabled ways of working that improve quality, accelerate delivery and support smarter decision-making across the business.

About the role

Working as part of our Data & Analytics team, you'll design, build and optimise modern data products that power decision making across T&G.

You'll be involved in:

• Designing and developing scalable data models within Snowflake
• Building and maintaining dbt models, testing, documentation and CI/CD pipelines
• Developing high‑performing SQL solutions and optimising platform performance
• Working closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Supporting the ongoing evolution of our enterprise data platform
• Contributing to the future direction of our analytics capability as we continue our digital transformation

What we're looking for

We're interested in engineers who bring curiosity, strong technical capability and a passion for building great data platforms.

You’ll ideally have experience with:

• 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering, with a focus on enterprise data warehousing and dimensional modelling
• Deep Snowflake expertise, including advanced SQL, performance optimisation, RBAC, tasks, streams and Delta Sharing
• Strong experience developing dbt projects including models, testing, documentation and CI/CD
• Confidence gathering requirements and translating business problems into scalable technical solutions
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a structured approach to root cause analysis
• Experience managing technology and information risks within enterprise environments
• A modern engineering mindset; using AI‑enabled tools across development, testing and documentation to lift both pace and quality, with outputs that stay governed, secure and validated

Experience with SAP, AWS, Power BI or enterprise transformation programmes would be advantageous but isn't essential.
