A leading Australian financial services organisation is undertaking a major transformation of its data platform and is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help drive the migration to Microsoft Fabric.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building modern cloud data platforms, designing scalable data pipelines, and modernising enterprise data warehouse solutions. You'll work closely with architects, analysts and business stakeholders to deliver robust, high-performance data solutions while helping shape the organisation's long-term data strategy. The role is offered as an initial 6-month fixed-term contract with a strong view to converting into a permanent position.
What you'll be working on:
- Migrating legacy data warehouse workloads into Microsoft Fabric.
- Building and optimising data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric.
- Developing data transformations using SQL and PySpark.
- Designing and maintaining Fabric Lakehouse and warehouse solutions.
- Supporting real-time data integration and Change Data Capture (CDC) processes.
- Working with Power BI semantic models to enable enterprise reporting.
- Collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
What we're looking for:
- Commercial experience with Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong Azure Data Factory and SQL skills.
- Experience building modern cloud data platforms and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Exposure to Fabric Lakehouse, PySpark and Power BI.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
