Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to help build and enhance a modern cloud-based data platform. The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Python, and modern data architecture principles.
You will collaborate with data analysts, architects, reporting specialists, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality data products that support analytics and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain scalable cloud-based data pipelines.
- Build data integrations from multiple source systems, including databases, APIs, files, and enterprise applications.
- Develop and maintain Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, and Medallion architecture solutions.
- Translate business reporting and analytics requirements into robust data models and reusable datasets.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale data processing.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve existing data pipelines and workflows.
- Ensure data quality, scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, architects, analysts, and technical teams.
- Contribute to best practices, documentation, standards, and knowledge sharing within the data engineering team.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
- Strong experience with Azure cloud-based data architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including:
- Pipelines
- Dataflows
- Notebooks
- Minimum 3 years of Python experience within a Data Engineering environment.
- Experience developing ETL/ELT processes using Python, Java, or Scala.
- Strong SQL skills, including query optimization.
- Experience integrating data from multiple source systems.
- Experience supporting reporting and analytics environments.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases.
- Native-level Dutch proficiency (CEFR C2) is mandatory.

- Power BI development and integration.
- CI/CD, version control, and deployment of data solutions.
- Spark or Spark-based data processing.
- Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
- Lakehouse, Data Mesh, or Domain-Oriented Data Architecture.
- Kimball dimensional data modeling.
- Data Governance, Data Quality Management, and Data Lineage.
- Experience working within public sector or large enterprise environments.
