Senior Data Engineer | Microsoft Fabric | Contract Opportunity

Salary: Up to $100/hr.

We're currently seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a high-performing Data & Analytics team delivering critical data initiatives within a large Queensland organisation.

This is an opportunity to work with modern cloud-based data technologies, helping design, build and optimise scalable data solutions that support enterprise reporting, analytics and decision-making.

The Role

As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing data platforms, resolving complex data challenges, and contributing to the ongoing evolution of a modern analytics environment.

You will be responsible for:

• Designing, developing and maintaining data pipelines and data models
• Investigating and resolving complex data quality and reconciliation issues
• Building and enhancing solutions within Microsoft Fabric
• Developing and maintaining PySpark and Python-based data processes
• Supporting data governance, security, privacy and quality initiatives
• Collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes
• Contributing to continuous improvement of data architecture, processes and workflows
• Participating in agile ceremonies, code reviews and Git-based development practices

About You To be successful, you will demonstrate strong experience across modern data engineering environments and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key skills include:

• Strong Python development experience
• Advanced PySpark experience
• Strong SQL skills
• Microsoft Fabric experience
• Experience with SSMS
• Git version control
• VS Code
• Data modelling and data warehousing expertise
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability

Highly regarded:

• Azure Data Platform experience
• Data governance and data quality expertise
• Government or large enterprise project experience
