Senior Data Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL to support data integration and analytics initiatives.
• Integrate and harmonise data from multiple sources, including transactional, financial, and CRM systems.
• Deliver high-quality, reliable data products for reporting, analytics, and business intelligence.
• Implement data quality controls, monitoring, and performance optimisation to ensure data accuracy and availability.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to improve data accessibility and governance.
• Maintain documentation, technical standards, and best practices for data architecture, version control, and deployment.
• Research and implement new data technologies and solutions to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Technology Environment

• Databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL
• Programming: Python, SQL
• Data Orchestration: Airflow or similar workflow management tools

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL for data engineering, transformation, and automation.
• Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale data pipelines.
• Proficiency with data orchestration and workflow management tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Advantageous Experience

• Data warehouse design and dimensional modelling.
• Exposure to SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Sage One, Xero, Business Central, HubSpot, or Microsoft Dataverse.
• Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Experience within the payments, fintech, or financial services sector.
